Ferret Master
Hi, We were ferreting this morning on some land behind my Gran's house. Anyway as I was collaring up the ferrets my Dad said what's that on the telegraph mast up there? On closer inspection it was a pair of ravens and their voice was unmistakable and definitely not that of a crow. It all adds up as the owner of the land I was ferreting on said he saw an immature bird sitting on his house in the Summer. I also saw them again later in the afternoon on the edge of the woodland. Anyway something a bit different I have never seen in Wiltshire before. Only time I have seen wild ravens was with the choughs on the Welsh coast. Does anyone else have any on the land they shoot on? 08shooter
i see ravens here quite often and have had to refrain from shooting them whilst decoying.they are hard to spot when shooting into the sun. luckily i knew he was too big for a crow. its nice to see them sporting in pairs and hear them call. dustyfox
I see ravans all the time when I go and help look after the perigrines nest from pigeon racer fans. Where I go its great no one for miles and its an old mining place so you get all these buildings, burns/streams, traintracks and allsorts. JohnGalway
We figure these fellas to be ravens. Sure do sound like them, the acrobatic displays are pretty good too. Bit hard on lambs though, and yeah I know they're protected.

flash
at my first school, moffats in the west mildands, we had a breeding pair of ravens in the school wood. every year a guy would come to the school, climb the tree and put a ring round the babies legs, and register there sex etc. was very interesting.
