after speaking to a few buds who go to orlando, florida & the likes on family holidays, it seems a absolute nightmare getting in thru customs, in all the airports, especially the major places (USA)

.

they tell me they have 3 to 4 hrs to get thru customs, with forms ,pics & finger prints to take...& seen whole families turned back (what a waste of a holiday cost)

can any one share thre experiences??

As i have been invited over for a few hunts & shoots etc, but......... with my 'colourful' past, i'm feeling doubtful !! (no firearms will be taken)

i hold all the certs poss here in the Uk, shotty & firearms , with more sections than an orange..

cheers......

seems to me they have it right . surely it should be a nightmare getting through customs here, perhaps then old people who have contributed to the system all their working lives might recoup some benefit from it as opposed to those who simply turn up to benefit prior to contributing ( bit like bent MP's that), good on the old US of A I say

cheers KW

I was over there twice in 2008 and the delays were no more than usual and not excessive.

We flew into and out of Atlanta International Airport (one of the largest) on both occasions and although its a major hub, it is very efficient.

I suspect that destinations like Orlando, where everyone landing is bound to be "foreign", probably take a lot longer.

I never had no problems.

Was there last year and with all the security

it only took as long as it did to get home

through Manchester.

From the US Embassy website. http://www.usembassy.org.uk/ukembabt.html

Click on "Visas to the US" at the top of the page, its all there.

"Some travelers may not be eligible to enter the United States visa free under the VWP. These include people who have been arrested, even if the arrest did not result in a criminal conviction, those with criminal records, (the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply to U.S. visa law), certain serious communicable illnesses, those who have been refused admission into, or have been deported from, the United States, or have previously overstayed on the VWP. Such travelers must apply for special restricted visas. If they attempt to travel without a visa, they may be refused entry into the United States."

any problems with a 'colourful past '???

Certainly worth checking before you go.

Hi trakker i,v worked at almost every state in america you will only have problems the first time you arrive to scan retina or finger prints once done then no problem there after, your details will be on record and quick and easy to read. as for being a naughty boy if it was a long while back as mine was no problem there can be at times a very large amount of people waiting to get through unfortunatly thats the way it is sometimes.

Travelers who have been arrested, even if the arrest did not result in a criminal conviction, and those with criminal records, (the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply to U.S. visa law), are required to apply for visas. If they attempt to travel without a visa, they may be refused entry into the United States. link with info ...
