mr lee
We have used one on our farm shoot quite a bit but mainly for collecting or dropping off shooting gear in a spot rather than driving round on it. Handy things but the temptation to blast round on it is too much.
fullbore
Me and my partner had a quad each for recovering the carcasses while stalking but this land we have now is the wettest you have seen so we both swapped our quads for argocats
Baldrick
Yes. I use one. Quads can go almost anywhere that a standard 4x4 can go, but exerting a lot less ground pressure. I use a quad for rabbiting, when soil compaction is an issue straight after harvest and drillings. It's also hugely more economical to run. It's great fun on a summer's evening. Quads are like magnets to ****** though. You'll have to keep it locked up if you live in an isolated area.
highseas
we used to use the farmers honda forman for foxing it was road leagal too we used to take it up the top of the screes in wasdale if any of you know wasdale you know the ground quads are worth their weight i gold
taz24
It would kill two birds with one stone (Pun intended). I was thinking of one of the large road legal one and it would serve two purposes. 1 it could be used to transport myself and equipment. 2 it could fulfil my need to ride bikes. taz
Big_Sam
If you are short of space do what my mates does in the USA, he has a honda 400 4x4 quad (beats the hell out of 2 wheel drive in mud) and keeps it in a covered trailer that just fits the quad perfectly. So both transportable and storage. Expensive, but great fun!
WeihrauchPower
I have done but prefer to walk. What about carrying lots of equipment? If you were using a hide and such? taz I don't shoot form a hide. Most of my hunting is done from either a static location ie a rabbit warren at a distance or fox calling, or stalking. I've used a quad to have a look around and study areas for activity and found that it seemed to disturb everything (even a four stroke). They're good fun though and if your pigeon shooting from a hide they would be very useful.
Teal
I've used one (borrowed) when I've been running a trap line in the past. Makes it practical when you have 40 snares plus fenns to check. Historically gamekeepers used to run bigger trap lines, I suppose they'd have used a bicycle? But impressive nevertheless.
