starlight32
Its an easy option mate- Look through the books -if you are not sure just buy the most expensive. That way right or wrong you will have a good justification that you have the best and on the plus side I will have the satisfaction that I know you have spent some of that money which is causing you to keep burning your nose on the bedroom lightbulb. Mungler
Get a half tidy .22 semi auto with moderator - I have no idea why people like bolt actions when you can have semi auto and as many shots as you can pull the trigger. Fortunately .22 ammo is cheap for the bucket because you will get through many buckets worth. As for .223 well it's got to be a Steyr. The Scout I got came with a built in bi pod (saving), sling swivels (saving) and come screw cut from the factory (saving). Well, that's how I justified the price. Go on, get one, you know you want to you dirty boy.

JohnGalway
Sako Quad in .22lr, or if you can find one a Sako Finnfire. Remington VL SS, VLS, VSSF II for the .223 or Sako 75 or the model previous to the 75 (I forget the name). But, for Charlie the Remmy will be more than enough OR............................ If you don't mind single shot rifles and a little bit of a wait then take a look at Cooper rifles. Whatever you get, spend more on the scope for the centrefire

Pipmoff
For 22lr you cant go wrong with a cz for the money, 16" barrel and screw cut from the factory put on a sak mod and you have a very good gun for not much money. As for the 223 I was going to go for a T3 stainless light until I handled one next to a 595 tikka which was far better in my opinion I ended up buying a Sako 75 stainless laminate heavy barrel secondhand for the price of a new T3. I was also put off the T3 by hearing of grouping problems with some guns. The main factor governing your choice will be your budget my mate was on a tight budget when he got his 223 but ended up getting a complete set up cz rifle, scope, mod, bipod and ammo for around £400 which was a bargain and it shoots good groups at 200yds.Good luck!
