forgive me for asking but is this a normal action for this gun,i dont know am not familiare with it, but have tikkas wich i beleive to be made by the same people and bolt can only be released by depressing release on side of gun,so i presume its not normal, and would be returning it to the site of purchase or at least contact the makers. :good::good:

p.s hope the eye allright

have 2 sakos in the house, thousands of shots fired through them, not 1 problem, do you hold the rear of the gun when shooting from a bipod? are you left handed on a right hand gun and knocking the release? its quite an easy bolt to release, but only if your trying!?

the sako is one of the more common guns in this country and never come across any problems like this.

Sounds like a bolt release sear problem

Is that the "button" thats pressed to allow the bolt to get past it Pin?

I've given it a darn good seeing to with some 3in1 spray oil - as well as the back end of the ejector claw the it engages with. I don't really know what else to look for TBH. I can only think it may be happening because Chris is used to lifting his bolt handle higher when he recycles his Annie so maybe it's travelling upwards past the stopper a bit when he does it

... normally when he hurriedly reloads after a miss :good:

right handed, from standing position rifle in left hand try to keep target in scope and just do a normal reload, do the same each time, this time gave Dave the gun and the bolt back as the little Dicky birds where going around my head,

Dave, I've just had a look at my Quad. As you slide the bolt it there is a click as the lock drops into the cut out in the bolt. When you slide the bolt back the locking lever rocks noticeably as it drops into the bolt cut out smoothly. The locking catch appears to have a spring so its always trying to push in. There are a few plastic parts on the Quad, maybe the locking mech is plastic and is worn or distorted. My bolt has never pulled out accidently.
