dustyfox
I am reading the BASC A GUIDE TO APPLICATION FOR OR RENEWAL OF A SHOTGUN CERTIFICATE IN SCOTLAND, and if you look on page 4 section 10 it says that anyone who charges for a countersign automatically disbars themselves. So if your Doctor charges does that not disbar him or her? Thanks Df

2shots
The local pub manager signed mine no probs,it only says person of similar standing and he is, with his training and licensing these days. And if a 19 year old BANK OFFICER counter assistant can and has, signed it for my mate,I dont think anyone should have a problem.
Highlander
Used to be that your cert had to be countersigned by a solicitor, bank manager or doctor...then the powers that be realised that (late as usual) these people were no more/less honest, decent law abiding than the average joe

reedbradshaw
local business men and women, and pro's eg : someone who is a member of a proffesional body, more people than you think can sign them site managers for instance, most are CIOB accredited and people who own their own businesses. how about the local council members ?? if you have children, ask the head master from the school. he signed my mum and dads passport whilst i was at school about 5 years ago.
