Saturday

Hi all, what a day we had.

Starts off by ringing LB at 6.15am to see if he was on his way up from Kent to our arranged meet and he had just arrived. I said I would be there about 7.00am so he had a kip whilst waiting.

After i arrived we sat watching the newly cut rape field for a while but not enough to set up on so we went to another Farm to have alook at some uncut rape and only a few about, so move on.

Driving along the A45 towards Birmingham and I am on the inside lane with Lb behind me and some ****hole trucker on the outside lane decides to come across to the near-side lane where I was. No bloody indication and all I CAN SEE IS THE FRONT 1/3 OF THE TRUCK COMING STRAIGHT INTO ME.

I am tight up to the kerb giving the jerk lights and horn and at the same time looking where I can mount the kerb to make my escape. At the last minute and about 5mm ofF my wing mirror he swerves back out to the other lane and then decides to stay there for about 3 miles holding every one up; with me giving him the most angriest ice cream cone ,up and down hand-signal I could muster.

I eventually pulls up outside a Subway Batch Bar to initiate LB into the delights of a MONSTER 12" Reggae chicken feast on a roll.

HE gets out of his jeep laughing his nuts off as I ask him did he see that jerko trucker trying to kill me. He said he thought I was a goner and was very lucky I weren't crunched .

Anyway we gets our brekkie sorted and then drove to 3 other farms with not a lot about either. (and here's me hoping to put us both on a 200 bird day.).

NO WIND and RED HOT.

But I had to show LB my jewel in the crown and told him to watch out for the WOODWORK!!!!!!!!.

We then drives back towards Banbury and finds some rape fields just being combined and a young lad following behind , disking the stubble straight away. He advised us that a few pigeons were settling on the field he had just done.

We had a quick look and sets up our stall under a big tree for a bit of shade ;as by now it was sweltering hot.

The birds were flitting about in 2's and 3's and Lb was struggling to hit any of them at the start but then started to hit a few. We shot 29 then the pigeons just switched off so we packed up and moved on to another field of rape stubble and shot 22.

51 bird day.

Unfortunately not the big bag we had hoped for but a good crack in the hide in the very hot sunshine and we did our best on the pest control front.

LB finally left about 7.00pm. Happy nonetheless.

Sunday

not much better as I went out and about as per Saturday and ended up with 64 on rape stubble.

NEEEEEEED some wind and less heat for this weekend.
