lowlander
whenever i go out shooting rabbits i always take a headshot just behind the eye, but whenever my freind goes out he always goes for a heart/lung shot and he says it is better than a headshot as it kills them more cleanly is this true Edited September 22, 2008 by lowlander

kev 1
Head shot is best I expect your mate does not want to miss and the rabbit gets away......But doing it his way the rabbit will most of the time run off injured, and probably die later.... Axe
With good shot placement both are effective methods of shooting rabbits. From a physical point of view, dead means brain dead. So the easiest way to work out the best shot is to simply work out which method creates this quicker i.e. the headshot.
Dave-G
Heart and lungs is usually a runner with an air rifle mate - you have it right and he has it wrong.
southernlad
HEADSHOT!!! how many times... No one who has any respect for the animal they can potentially leave maimed and in agony would even contemplate a body shot with an air rifle. Tell your mate if he can't hit a rabbit in the head properly he shouldn't be shooting at them. Sorry to be blunt, but that's the way it is! airssassin
A well aimed headshot every time. Bunnies deserve to leave this world as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Hezbear
Headshots all the way for me as heart & lung shots can mean the rabbits take upto a minute to die, also they will tend to run to their sets when shot like this
nicknox
Headshots all the way for me as heart & lung shots can mean the rabbits take upto a minute to die, also they will tend to run to their sets when shot like this Are you that sure? Do you think that all your headshots hit a spot that gives immediate death? Do you think they could also hit a spot that just gives paralysis and the rabbit is fully awake why you walk over calmly to pick it up? I've shot a lot of rabbits heart/lung shot and they don't run for cover, just fall over and kick like head shot rabbits. We just assume because we hit the rabbit in the head that its instant death, not always the case though is it? Anyone misjudged a shot and shot your quarry through the eyes? You'll know what I'm talking about.

THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Look at a rabbits skull to see where the brain is. A head shot needs to be a brain shot, behind the eye.
scout
Head shot every time with an air rifle, Prefer a head shot with the rimmy but a heart and lung shot works just as well.
