Fleabag
Air gunner shooting badgers, at least it looks like a pellet what do you think. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7661477.stm Edited October 12, 2008 by Fleabag
lewis
" I belive it to be a rifle bullet, Im waiting for it to get examined so i can tell what type of bullet" Hmmm is it not quite obviously a pellet? It would have to be fac air because surley a .22 pellet wouldnt kill a badger unless at point blank range? Anyways more bad publicity for the sport- The usual minority making the majority look bad

Saltashshooter
i am on an old computer with a unclear screen so i might be wrong but to me it looks like the pellet has not been flattend on impact like they usaully do , i imagine a badger skull is quite hard aswell? sambu13
i think you can sort of see a slight flattening!do we know where on the body it was shot, it may noy have been the head?
libs
Some farmers dont take kindly to bagers, they are known to spread bovine TB so it might not be the worst thing. but i doubt a farmer would use air. -- more to the point, its not news worthy. sambu13
is a spade not the tool of choice for badger squashing?(this is of course a reference to the vicar of dibley)
nipper
If they had a report of every Badger killed by Joe Blogs on the road. They would have no room for any other news !!!!!

southernlad
Certainly looks like a .25 but if it was an FAC gun it would be an unrecogniseable lump of lead, especially if it was a head shot.
kentishsteve
Now if this comment i make is a bit outragous please tell but is there any possibility that this badger could have already been dead when it was shot in the head with an air rifle also i dont want to offend anyone but is it really werth using police resources to investigate this, what are the chances of actually cathing the offender ? There is no way on this earth that has come from a centrefire rifle either, for the same reason as above - even a body shot would distort the Bullet head
Dave-G
If you select full screen mode, and pause it where the officer tilts the container you get a brief but better look at it. It seems a bit too long for a regular pellet and the end is rounded to a concave rather than the skirt you'd see on most pellets. Cant say I've seen any pellets like that. Highlander
Hope whoever gets caught. Accident is one thing but even so why leave the evidence to be found and if it wasn't an accident then definitely needs catching. Be interesting to know what type of bullet that was instead of reading all those guesstimates!
