Mattw
Lindsay, welcome to the forum, Im afraid you have basically just asked "do you like marmite" to everyone here, you will get a large response saying buy a beretta, they are waaaaay better, the rest will say they have one and its the best thing ever. You either have a good experience with them or you dont. mine hasn't been bad thus far. Hope this helps.

Imperfection
Despite its low price-i think its a good gun.Obviously not up there with Berretta, but if you're on a budget it ticks all the right boxes. It shoots straight,is easy to disassemble and easy to clean. On saturday while clay busting,i got my first jam,but this was due to a friend using it too and it got very hot after 180 cartridges.I've never put anything less than 28g carts through it and it always cycles perfectly.Only real downside is spent carts do get ejected some distance and it does look a bit militaryish, but who cares! kev 1
I got one jammed for a while now i use 70mm carts and has not jammed since
vole
Had problems with light strikes on primers when new. Sorted very professionally by Edgar Bros.Great for rough shooting and doing things with I would not do with my SBS.There are more experienced shooters than me that think they are ok too.The spent shells do go a long way. urikastu
Firstly I do have a beretta. Secondly go to a R/G/Dealer and let him advise you on the best you can aford regardless of make. Chances are you'll still end up with a beretta but not so new
malkiserow
Dont know if this is in the correct place???Anyway what is everyones views on escort semi autos as myself and my brother are thinking of getting one each for wildfowling As said above there will be may answers on this ... not always helpful because they are just personal experience and the odd crisis does not mean they are all the same. Buy the best you can afford that fits you. I am going to experiment with and escort for a bit.... you can ask me again in a few weeks if you like. shootingmike
Just to add my tuppence worth as I noticed you said you want it for fowling.... If you do as Urikastu suggested and go to a RFD for advice irrespective of make/model, it's unlikely you'll get something that's proofed for hi performance steel and certainly not as cheap as an EScort. Don't get me wrong, if your planning to just use bismuth or tungsten I'm sure an old beretta will be fine, but if you want to shoot 3" steel, then do check the barrel stamps as it's highly likely there not proofed for hi performance steel. (they must have the fleur de lys symbol stamped on) I have an escort 3" black synthetic with trio stock and it's great, hi perf. steel proofed, cheap, reliable and I don't mind getting it filthy. Ohhh.... and it was £280 brand new!!!! Edited October 22, 2008 by shootingmike
tomleatel
It is a winner. I've put 24g Carts through it and it cycles perfectly.. My shooting has actually improved since buying this gun Then again it couldn't have got much worse Buy it, you won't be dissapointed
the great roberto
Here's my 2p's worth. I have a 26" escort(3" chamber) and a 26" Benelli SBE2. I've had the Escort for a year, and it has not missed beat.Put 2000 carts through it from 24g upto 50g. It does offer great value for money.Great for walked up shoots/rough shoots. I use it mainly for pigeons. And it is good for all these. Unfortunately it's not my first choice when you have a SBE2 sitting next to it. However the SBE2 cost nearly 4 times as much. If you are considering the 3.5" version, then remember that it doesn't like to cycle carts below 36g.So, useless for clays.( even the SBE2 struggles with some 28g loads.) My 3" chambered escort is not that great with 50g lead loads. Compare it with a Benelli SBE2 and Beretta xtrema 2 and you can see why there is a differance in money.Actually the 50 g loads are quite brutle in the escort. There will be lots that claim the escort falls apart, I'm sure they do.But they do come with a 3 year warrenty.Mine is still great after a year If you want a cheap semi, then this is great VFM.If you have the money for a SBE2 or Xtrema................then get the SBE2 ! But I guess you ask because you want a cheap semi that you will not be too upset if you drop it in a ditch...................the the escort is your answer. vole
Mines fine with 30g 65mm cartridges and even 24g stuff I bought at the clay ground.
Townie
I'd agree with all the above. A Beretta 391 or Benelli M2 will be much better screwed together, but it will also be three times the price. I'm also not worried about getting estuary mud on it. Mine happily eats 65mm 24g cartridges and feels fine with 36g steel magnums.
