mort
Well, I decided to take up the sport about 3 weeks ago and have been doing research ever since. Shooters down the village pub (who nearly put me off as they went on shoots costing £4 -800 which is too much for me and not uncommon). I have visited gun dealers and had my first shotgun lesson today (Found out I shot left handed ! fired right in the forces and am generally right handed apart from snooker, the shotgun just felt right and I did not even recognise I was doing it! is this unusual? I want to shoot vermin (the usual, pidgeon and rabbitt mostly anything I can put in the pot) I have been advised that instead of a shotgun and 22 rimfire licence I should go for a .22 air rifle and shotgun. This makes sense as it would be less cost/hassle ect but will the air rifle do the Job. The guy at the range thought so and I am inclined to lean on experience. Ido not intend to competition target shoot just for vermin controll. The reason I joined this site is that there does not seem to be any abusive exchanges as apposed to the fishing sites I am used to. Differing opions are good for learning and this site is one of the best sites I have visited fishing/shooting ect. I will read through the site and hopefully avoid any repeat newbie questions. I if miss a few be patient Good to be aboard Mark
