mallinson
pictures are a little blurry, will try to get more pics of them tomorrow morning as they fly past, must of been upto and beyond 3000+ pigeons this morning, these pics are of two smaller flocks. I keep trying to decoy them onto the beech nuts but it isn't working yet ha ha.

ernyha
Good grief, no wonder I haven't seen more than 2 together in my neck of the woods for months. I just hope they are doing what comes naturally then and migrating southwards.

mallinson
I have shot in total around 20 from all these massive flocks, i will get up a little earlier and take some more closer pics of them. They just won't come into the deaks, i have never seen as many pigeons as this ever before. The pigeons i have shot have all been full of nuts, they can't be many left??? I'm guessing by the end of this month they will have moved on.
Teal
You might be in luck if the area around you and the shoots are organising a roost shoot on the Saturdays in February, so long there are a lot of other guns out you should get plenty of shooting. mallinson
Hi Teal There is no other shoots for miles round here, there's not even any crops ha ha ha Thing is when they get into big flocks they all come at once then nothing for a little while, till the next big flock. dunganick
me and my dad had a day like that in the wind, we were standing behind a large row of tree's shooting them up the tail as they come over in flocks of 300 or so, but they were so high it was v difficult, we started using 4's and larger shot, to try and keep some kind of pattern at that height....with limited success, i think tighter chokes might have been in order....... oh well, we live and learn

Wookie
I had a flock almost that size over my neck of the woods last weekend. Unfortunately, they were choosing to roost in the leased woodland the other side of the river and not on our side, so I was stuffed. Decoys worked for about 30 seconds before the crop scarers started up. Mind you, pretty much every field round our way has got a hide up somewhere in it. eugene molloy
I'm looking at about sixty on the forest floor right now; there is still a lot of beech mast untapped, and plenty of ivy berries too. (Shropshire) Not a b***** one on the fields yet. Eug
mallinson
Been up into the woods now and the floor is just covered in feathers. There apears to be a couple of favorite roosting tree's judging by the amount of poop on the floor!!! If i finish in time I'm gonna have a go at them tomorrow afternoon, hopefully.
