mr lee
I needed some tyres for the mrs' motor the other day so went to a local tyre place and arranged for them doing. Parked the motor round the side as they were busy and niped into the town centre. Got a call about an hour and half later to say they were done and I could collect the car. When I got there the car looked like it had just been washed. :look: I asked them about it and they told me they have major problems with pigeons crapping on anything round the side and back of the premises. Hmmm...they have a pigeon problem eh? :look: The lad told me they pretty much had to wash anyones motor who had parked round the side or rear taking up valuable fitting time for one employee. They had tried nets and failed after wagons damaged them if they had a high load, tried a pest control company who put down poisons on the beams etc but the pigeons ignored them or knocked them off the girders whilst walking about. They were running out of ideas of how to get rid of the problem. I mentioned shooting them and how I helped a few local farmers out with this problem whenever I could. Told him I was insured and discreet. As the conversation went on he asked me if I would mind having a go at them. Went yesterday afternoon once they got a bit quieter and waited just inside the door at the side where only staff could see me with the air rifle. In two hours I accounted for 32 pigeons with 33 shots. Fluffed one completely missing the bird. :look: Manager regularly kept coming round to see how I was doing and brought me a hot coffee everytime. :o When he saw the amount I had taken he was gobsmacked. He said he thought I would get one or two but not 32. He was so chuffed at being able to let the staff get on with their proper job he is sorting me a refund on the tyres and doing them at a friends and family discount instead of the full retail price I paid. I now have permission to return every weekend when I want to or through the week to get rid of as many as I can. He has also said he will replace the pellets with a few new tins. I haven't shot the air rifle in ages prior to this little job but really enjoyed spending some time with it and appreciating how quiet and accurate it is. Shooting permissions are not always just farmland.

seb
Thats a great idea. I remember a place I used to work and they had to wash the steps by the door every morning because pigeons roosted above.

oldspot
I have shot pigeons inside buildings with asbestos type roofs with a 9mm garden shotgun, as the shoot is dust it is less likely to damage the sheeting.

Browning GTS
Well Done We get this problem in the train maintenance shed at work i know a couple of the fitters used to shoot the pigeons in the roof, but not now. I have not got an air rifle at the moment but i think i might have to get one sorted out and have a go.
