Beardo
i've got one of those, but it's bright yellow!
utectok
If you want a light battery go for a motor bike one packs a punch and weight is much less than some. (don't spill the acid though I did when I shot it by accident! I have a little aluminum tin for it now and a hessian sack to cover it). Billy.
i've got one of those, but it's bright yellow! Nick, I bought a load of cammo tape off ebay and covered my battery, it's been a great help. I think the gaffa tape is about 8 quid.

If you're in the habit of shooting batteries I doubt that an aluminium can will provide much protection. The hessian sack or even better a gas mask type bag will at least make it easier to carry the battery, and provide some camo efect without the need to wrap the battery in camo tape. webber
utectok
I made a special aluminium tin out of 2 mm riveted metal and tested it it seems to hold up to shot at 15 paces. Anyway now I have a longer lead and a speed controler as recomended here for 15 quid. Now I can keep my batt in the hide!
webber
I'll admit to having been fooled by the birds on the whirly a couple of times over the years, and almost shooting them, but shooting the battery, and then making a can to put it in to preserve its integrity against gun shot has to be awarded my chuckle of the week. webebr
Catamong
Most of my Flexicoys rattle like hell, I had a bird land behind the spinner directly in line with one of my deeks yesterday, I shot the bird, but also zapped the deek, bowled it about 5 feet along the ground. utectok
the pigeon was behind the batt which was hid under straw. Was funny though and batt acid sure does put holes in your jeans!
Beardo
Nick, I bought a load of cammo tape off ebay and covered my battery, it's been a great help. I think the gaffa tape is about 8 quid. not really worth it with my car started thing - it's one of those big ones with a light and tyre pump built in. i popped into Beelex (St. Albans electrical wholesaler) yesterday to get some fuses for my speed controller and lamp (i shall name no names on who blew the speed controller) and thought i'd ask about batteries - they had Yuasa ones in a range of powers (apparently they're used in burgler alarms)- so i picked up a spare 7ah - Webber thanks for the info - they were slightly more expensive than you but obviously i don't have to pay postage so it worked out cheaper. I wonder who did that? (sorry about the fuse matey, lucky we had a spare or I wouldn't have been able to beat you with the pigeon count.... He he he)... Anyways has anyone ever used a car battery with a magnet (one with a 'fused' speedcontroller). I have a small car battery with a 12v 36Ah rating and as we don't have to walk to far from vehicle to hide It would be ideal with respect to stamina - anyone know if this would cause any damage to the kit? Baldrick
I bought a Yuasa 12v 17ah battery from Webber, which arrived this morning. The price was fair, and the service excellent.
