Blackbart
WHERE DO THEY KEEP COMING FROM ? Past the milestone in the last couple of nights out lamping. The farmer shot one on saturday so that put us on 98,then went out sunday night(very windy)we got number 99,after following her along a valley, she was to far away when we first spotted her,but she came down abit and was moving parallel to us.I got on her and gave a whistle....kept moving, another whistle....kept moving,so i moved infront of her and was just about to take the shot when she stopped,i quickly adjusted back onto her and bang down she went.Fell to the shot, eventhough i didnt allow enough for the wind. She was hit hard and wearing her liver on the outside. The shot was ranged at 178 yards and this is her The big 100 was taken in the next field to the chicken farm,i was lamping and my mate shot it at 171 yards, the whistle worked this time as it stopped and give a broadside, down it went(we have this down to a tee now,who ever lamps stops them so the shooter just concentrates on staying on them) Monday night we had a request to go to a farm further afield and had a good look around on the quad but seen nothing but deer, lots of them.We then went back to our normal patch and seen fox after fox, including this very strange specimen which i took with the hmr at 85 yards.Wanted a head shot but it wouldnt stay still. You can see the exit wound(yes EXIT)just behind his shoulder. She ran 10 yards and fell in a heap stone dead.Check out the tail on this one The next was taken in the next field 5 mins after this one,a very big dog and was turned inside out almost so a piccy isnt a good idea.We then went back to the chicken farm and lamped 3 in one field, only about the size of a football pitch and i presume 2 dogs and a vixen(its that time of year)The vixen made good her escape,as they do,one dog was on the brow of the hill so he was out and the other was sniping away thinking he was invisable but he made the mistake of stopping before he got to the brow for a last look and it was his last look.taken at 152 yards. So a good couple of nights,5 foxes and we seen another 9.I hope they have a merry xmas because we will leave them alone untill the new year(probably)

JohnGalway
Send some this way please Bart, I'm only on 14 !! Had one or two like that in other years with little butts of tails. Was talking to someone not too long ago (can't remember who for the life of me) that got one with three legs. You're knocking a lot of foxes, long may it continue

I've found all the foxes i've shot with them have been pass throughs not sure its a good thing as they do run a little but never get very far I havent tried the 20 grain yet,it was shot with 17 grain v shock and i was suprised it passed straight through. Pav the area is about 4000 acres in total, mostly crop with a few cows and a couple of hundred sheep and like i have said, a big chicken farm. I dont keep any hides or brushes(minging things) There was loads of cubs in the summer but due to the **** summer and rain it was late on before the harvest was done so we couldnt get at them......untill now. al4x
some depends how close you are to urban areas, we shoot about 30 from 500 acres but are on the edge of Luton and thats despite having no sheep but just gamebirds down

To give you an idea.. Last year.....105 The previous year....97 And this year......103.......................................................(so far )

maddog546
Good night out, they are in abundance this year as the slugs and snails have thrived as anyone with a veg patch will know,we have a problem in Cornwall where some brain dead idiots are releasing town foxes on our moors and big farms. 15 shot in one night ,6 of them had been castrated and where still covered with ultraviolet spray. The clowns who are doing this dont realise the problems they are causing,we have just about got rid of the mange on our farms with the odd one each year, one of my Dairy farmers took action himself after they were stealing milk from the parlor whilst he was milking of the 17 he shot they all had mange and again a large number had been castrated. I know we are all here stating how many we have culled but I believe that we all have respect for our quarry and dont which to have sickly animals that provide no sport,it has been a busy year 260 so far and we have only had one cold snap. I have permission on somewhere over 20,000 acres and like to maintain a healthy population without giving too much away to the farmers, well you have to look after next years crop!!!!Tis like farming.
