mr lee
Copied a link posted on WSF forums incase any of you fish Yorkshire marks or would like to know a bit more about them prior to setting out. It is a fairly detailed site listing cautions, fishing holes and access routes. http://www.photorecce.co.uk/intro.html I really fancy a spot from the top of Filey Brig cliffs. Chard
I'm on WSF too That's a very nice site on Yorkshire marks, Mr Lee I fished under those cliffs at Filey once, down the ladder to the ledges at the bottom :o It was in the summer and I was just catching small Coalfish and big sandeels (launce) on feathers. I believe it's good for Cod in winter there

I believe it's good for Cod in winter there I hope so because the amount of blanks we have had recently at immingham wall is getting beyond a joke. All I have had from there so far was a disabled crab. Only had one leg... Fished Runswick bay a few times and pulled out quite a few rockling. Fancy heading over your way shortly Martin to north wales. Anymore blanks and my mate and me are going to have to resort to setting up in ASDA near the fish counter and getting our cod that way... Chard
WSF is a cracking site, the best sea angling site. I post a bit on there. Oban Skate Great report and superb photos That looks like the boat that John "Laughing Boy" Wilson did his TV programme on Common Skate fishing. The one where he was so obviously envious of his own daughter because she caught a bigger one than him :o

Yes, did you note the martyr bit, where he gave his own rod to the boatman (with a fish on) so that he could "help" his daughter. He kept reminding her and us over and over that he had "helped" her Then made a big thing about reclaiming his rod from the boatman, now that he had "helped" her. He kept telling her how proud she had made him, but I swear I could hear his teeth grinding when he said it The false nervous (and irritating) laugh was doing overtime through all this as well, laughing from the nose down, with the eyes looking daggers and very green

Rarely do I bother to keep him on the channel. Just starts to get annoying. Henry Gilby on the other hand though is good viewing as he gets so passionate and excited about a catch. Even if his mate 'Del' gets one on first.

I think Henry Gilby is a likeable bloke, even though he's a bit of a stuffed shirt. He makes a good programme and I prefer beach fishing on TV instead of boat fishing all the time i have chartered a boat off amlwch..n/wales for mid march..cant wait!!! Good luck mate, hope you have a good session. Is he taking you on the wrecks? Edited January 16, 2009 by Chard

The one where he was so obviously envious of his own daughter because she caught a bigger one than him Why thank ye Chard. We were very lucky. Wilson was a neighbour of mine. He's actually quite a nice bloke is John. Us yokels give him a lot of stick about his TV antics which is all for the camera and a big consideration in the production is geared toward non-anglers. Chard
Thank you Mr Lee. I haven't seen Wilson's skate escapade unfortunately. Is it on the nurd or DVD anywhere? I've never seen the series on DVD. I've seen the programme twice recently (in the last month) on one of the "Lifestyle and Culture" channels on Sky - the one that shows all the fishing programmes, John Wilson, Matt Hayes, Henry Gilby etc etc Actually - PS It seems it is on DVD - John Wilson's Dream Fishing Volume 3 http://www.shopwiki.co.uk/detail/?q=John+W...ishing+Vol3+DVD Edited January 18, 2009 by Chard
mr lee
A bit off topic but hey ho.. I requested a brochure from a company last week about fishing holidays and you can request a dvd too. If you click for all of them you get a bonus dvd of a few guys fishing in some awesome spots, showing you the tackle they are using etc. Lasts almost 2 hours. Really good watching especially as it is free. http://www.catch-the-action.co.uk/t-brochure-request.aspx

Especially as there is a bit on Etive. Maybe his attitude towards his daughter is that she reminds him of his ex-wife.
