ernyha
Good advice that about the shot in the ceiling but I don't understand how they were allowed to keep the gun under the bed in the first place.

ernyha
it was not allways law to keep guns locked in a steel box  It was when that was written if you look at the article underneath.
Gemini
Can you imagine the s#i7 that firearms officer could be in if the powers-that-be decided to follow-up on this. He gave them some tongue-in-cheek advice, which they then went and told the world and his wife about. The writer does say that this was many years ago, but the article underneath clearly shows that the letter has only recently been published. So if I was his present FEO, I would be very careful about what I said to this eejit, just in case he decided to write another letter to the same newspaper dropping HIM in it as well. Some people shouldn’t be allowed breed!!!!!!!!! G.M.
Pike
There is a good arguement that says If you have burglars in your house phone the police. When they say they will send someone round when a unit is available put the phone down. Then give it a minute and phone them back, tell them very calmly "don't worry about sending anyone I've shot the burglars now" then see how how rapidly they respond!

arjimlad
Watch it. I knew an old boy who replied that "he would not go unless he could take his gun with him", when the police asked him to approach some youths who were kicking 7 bells out of his car, and politely ask them to desist. The police attended - and revoked his certificate. Unreasonable ? This chap was over 70.
Gemini
I read something along the same lines @ 8-9 years ago. An elderly man had been burgled and beaten by the scum who had broken in. When asked how he was going to cope in the future, he replied that the next time they broke in he would have his shotgun ready. :< Yes, you’ve guessed it, they revoked his SGC and took his gun off him, making him a nice easy target for when they came back. The official line was that they didn’t want an old chap like him hurting himself. HA! Makes you wonder whether they care more for the scum of this world than they do for the law-abiding members of society. :< G.M.
El Gringo
Amazing stories about having gun licenses revoked. And here I thought only the U.S. was infested with politically-correct Thought Police. El Gringo

You have to wonder about that It's best to be a ***** these days, they never have to get a gun licence and if their dogs get nabbed by a farmer where they are illegally hunting the police make them give the things back.
