Fat Dog
I have in the last two months lost over two stone in weight ( doctors orders and all that ). With the reduction in body weight has come a reduction in my scores in sporting clays. I shoot a Blaser F3, and love shooting it, but today I have discovered that I am looking up the right hand side of the rib (right handed shooter ). Question. Can losing weight have such a drastic effect on gun fit as before the gun fitted me perfectly ? Also, how can I correct this ? Thanks
tweedledee
put on 2 stone again mate. i guarantee that will be cheaper than buying a new dt10
Lloyd90
Well if you had chubby cheaks but are now skinnier and there no longer chubby then your head might be in a different place on the stock! You can get the wood "bent" and made to fit you perfectly by a good gunsmith, should cost about £50-
eagle eyes
If your planning to loose more wieght i would not have the gun fitted yet as you may end up with the same problem further down the line. As a tempory measure you could pack the comb with tape to get your sight picture correct, Then once your wieght has become stable get the gun fitted to you. Baldrick
It's not just how slim/porky your face is - weight loss and gain also affects length of pull. Get down to your smith and get re-fitted.
pair away
Baldrick is correct in what he says in that it all has an affect on how you mount the gun and in the end how you shoot , you may have noticed a difference in your scores in summer and winter( not as much as losing 2 stone )this can be because you have less layers on in summer and they will affect your mount and gun fit. Fat Dog
put on 2 stone again mate. i guarantee that will be cheaper than buying a new dt10 TD, I have suggested this to "her who must be obeyed" and my ears are still ringing from her response. However, I did manage to drop into the conversation that if I can't have the gun adjusted, then it will have to go, oh and it will have to be replaced. Cheers guys. It's the tale of "the incredible disappearing man".

casts_by_fly
I'd start by checking the comb height with some tape as noted above. I think you can still buy the leather cheek mounts for pretty cheap. Put a half inch onto the top of the comb with some tape and some sort of filler like closed cell foam or gauze. If that works, then source yourself a leather pad for a more permanent solution. Once you're dropped all of the weight you can get refitted. Same goes with the length of pull. If you're shoulders have slimmed down you'll need a little more length. Foam spacer on the butt pad will tell you, then a longer butt pad will cure it. My vote is on the cheek weld. Just a little bit of weight loss around your face slims you down a bunch and will naturally put your eye further to the right with the same natural positioning. Good on you for dropping the weight. Hope you can keep it off. Thanks, Rick

Fitted a cheekeez pad (3/16") to the stock last week, shot a couple of rounds of skeet then went my sporting club, well, well shot 46 ex 50 ( compared to what I had dropped too recently 32, 33 ex 50 ). So far so good, at least I am looking down the rib of the gun again. Time will tell. Thanks.
