apbuild
Guys, My optical mouse is really beginning to get on my nerves now!! The problem I have is that the cursor keeps jumping, of it's own accord, to the start tab at the bottom left of the screen or the file tab at the top left of the screen. It does it so much that it is a real pain in the ****! Is it the mouse or a setting on the computer that needs disabling? I'm running a Dell 2400 with Windows XP Professional. Any advice? Cheers Rob. P.S Please no quips about getting a mouse trap LB.

dunganick
this might not have any affect, but i know that optical mice are effected by what surfice you run them on, if you are running them on a fake wood grain or a real wood grain colour, they can jump when you pass over the change in colour, just an idea
ProteuS
the touchpad on my laptop does that sometimes if you tap a second finger down , it confuses the touchpad and the cursor defaults to the bottom left near the start box, i've never had it on a mouse though check it's not set up as a touchpad / tablet, check the wires are ok (good connections etc) what surface are you running the mouse on?, if it's shiny it might be having a similar effect, the func1030 is about the best mousemat around at the moment i think hope some of these help
remytherussell
Its an option in the mouse setting start - settings - control panel - mouse - pointer options (disable "snap to") RTR

dazza
I had the same problem and it was the mouse mat, turn the mat upside down and try that.

apbuild
Dunganick, Proteus and Dazza, Spot on with the diagnosis boys. It was the mouse mat. My little girl bought me it for my birthday and it has a colourful picture from the lion king on it. The mouse couldn't handle all of the different colours! Using a plain black mat, my problem is solved. Cheers all!!!! Rob.
