scolopax
How's everyone doing with the roost shooting? We shoot Fridays locally with most woods occupied to push the pigeons around. Sounded like there was alot of shooting yesterday afternoon and I saw some good sized flocks, we could have just done with some wind to keep them down. Where I was there was about 3 inches of snow and the temparature was hovering around zero. I was late to the wood after having to visit A&E (stabbed myself in the leg whilst butchering a deer, six stitches!), shooting was steady but I performed very badly, thirteen bagged for two boxes of shells. My pal a the far end of the same wood shot the same number but for half as many cartridges. I blame my injured leg
Cranfield
I have only been a couple of times and haven't really had the best weather, either not enough wind, or too much rain. With a few more trips planned next week things could improve. In my area the best roost wood is on private land with no shooting. It hasn't taken the birds long to work out where to get an undisturbed sleep. :o

scolopax
Much better shooting from myself this week, fewer birds but more in the bag, I collected 14 for just under a box of shells. My pal picked 12 at the far end of the same wood and walking back to the car we found a final bird which one of us must have shot. Lovely afternoon again, no wind, blue skies and 4 inches of frozen snow. A mutual freind of ours called my pal to tell him how he had got on roost shooting a nearby estate, he had 57! But the previous weekend at the same wood as this friday he had 54, then moved over to a different county and had another 57 bag on the saturday afternoon. That is one heck of an aggregate bag for three roosting sessions.

malkiserow
I found the shooting was really only in 45 minutes from 4.30 nothing before. Air too still. Heard the odd shot around in local woods. Shot 12.
mikee
after last week in the wood of doom this week we went in a wood we walked past last week in the dark on our way back to the cars and put about 1500 pigeons out of the trees, 2 each last night, nothing wanted to land here this week, never mind there's always next week mikee
