Thanks guys Lee Try to find a spring steel if you can, like all things there are many grades but just a bit of spring would do. If you cannot get it they use shorter (far from ideal) mild steel arms. Stealth Stalker
I sourced mine from Tony Cooper he's the guy who makes Magtame speed controllers, top bloke It was a few years ago, but what he supplied was brilliant 6ft lenghts of 5mm sprung steel absolutely indestructable, much better than anything you can buy at B&Q and the like. If your interested Pm me for his number. SS
Mr Potter
You've got to be a bit careful if you're using spring steel, if you weld or braze the sections on each end were the decoy goes and the arm attachs to the magnet it destroys the temper of the steel, it loses it's "springiness" and goes brittle. A mate of mine made some arms, welded the connections on and they snapped off under load about the second time out. I can't weld, don't have a welder but used araldite to attach the ends and there still going strong after 3 or 4 years. Mr Potter
mikee
5mmØ spring steel may be too thin for magnet arms, i use it for bouncer wires with plastic deeks, your mag arms will swirl around too much even with a light coy or drag on the ground with a dead bird, 6-7mm would be better mikee
hitfreshairagain
thanks guys, mikee the only reason i say 5mm is because i have measured the steel rod thickness from my friends magnet and his is 5mm(but open to all ideas. Cheers for all your replies Lee

ljtucker
If you dont /cant weld you can solder pretty strong joints, acid flux just like on pipes

I use to get loads from them about 5 years ago £2.50 for a 6mm 6ft length. Also get the 4mm stuff for the wing spreaders if possible. I have welded the stuff loads with out any probs, using a mig welder. I have a few bouncers made from the stuff aswell as magnet arms. hope this Helps Agent36 Edited February 21, 2009 by Agent36
