Pigeon Pieman
So guys, what's the common consensus on the need for a rotary to be fitted with a speed controller? Useful, or just an additional cost?

dead-eye-dick
Toy...It's nice to be able to control the speed for windy/still days. I've got one - I'm a kid at heart, as we all are and KIDS LIKE TOYS

everygoodnamewastaken
Im gonna try and get a sort of dimmer switch idea on mine. Do you think it'd work?
ernyha
EGNWT any variable resistor switch should work O.K. You are only playing with 12volts so a car dashboard light switch or any similar cheap alternative should work. Let us know how you get on. everygoodnamewastaken
I'll get on to it as soon as
johnny
I don't use a speed controller on mine , not sure if it matters or not. But I have heard it will run the battery down faster as it goes through a resister. I'am not sure if this is true or not, maybe someone else can help. Pigeon Pieman
Hmm, not sure about battery life. I have got a couple of 30ah beasts from a friend that sells wheelchairs. I'm a big strong boy so I'll take both - and leave one in the car, just in case. Might need to eventually change my name to Ernya II :( :S
ernyha
PP the way my mate had to struggle with all the gear and the pigeons on Saturday,I reckon he will beat you to be "ernyha11" One consolation though 5 days after my opp. had my best day ever while supposed to be resting. 117 over rape stubble but fortunately could drive the 4x4 to and from the hide. :(
lazza
I don't use a Speed Controller on my rotor. I bought an original magnet, some years ago, & haven't found the need to either speed it up or slow it down.
