Lloyd90
Got a slot for a 17HMR, theres a CZ Varmint (The heavy Barrel) in 16" screw cut, 2nd hand £285 I could get. What do you reckon ? What do you think of them ? My mate has one and its pretty nop notch, I haven't really heard anything bad about them. Comments ?
Beardo
They would probably run that with the face recognition stuff. i've just bought a new .17hmr silhouette for £285 and i love it. amazingly accurate, lot of rifle for the money
steve_b_wales
All CZ & BRNO rifles are of good quality. I've had many over the years in .22 & .17HMR. You won't go wrong buying one.

Awesome rifles-probably the best in their price range!
Baldrick
Buy it - it's a superb rifle. I have two.
Lloyd90
If you weren't so far away, you could buy mine. How much is it ? How much is RFD to RFD ?
Erik Hamburger
I bought a CZ 453 Varmint in .17HMR 10 days ago. Haven't managed to zero it properly yet - currently groups bad. Must be my shooting/setup/ tuning. However I did get a rabbit at my first zero-ing session so it does the job. It was sold to me for £300 - still has a few months of the 1-year retailer warranty on it. Note the Varmint is heavy - compared to non-varmint models. Could be a issue if you stalk a lot. lurcherboy
You won't regret the purchase bigthug Check out a member called SamF as he sorted me a shop display one for £210 with moderator and a bloody nice bloke to deal with LB
Lloyd90
Sounds good dude, sold the 22 today so got a few extra quid. Only think is the varmint has no iron sights and I dont want to cheap out on the scope since the 17 has such good range + accuracy I phoned the shop and told them to keep the rifle. might wait until next week to go pick it up Or just pick it up n leave it scopeless until next week lol
steve_b_wales
Leave it in the Shop? Go get it and lavish it with love
Lloyd90
I picked it up today for 285 + 35 for a SAK moderater Also grabbed a box of ammo, now just need to buy a decent scope and job done
blackbird
I would not go out and spend to much on a scope, my HMR is fitted with a Hawk eclipse 3-9x50 it was about the £120-£140 mark & works fantastic
Lloyd90
Im really considering this one http://opticswarehouse.co.uk/products.asp?cat=204 Hawke Nite eye with 6-24x50. Just wondering, whats the difference between the Nite Eye and the Nite Eye SR ?? Also does anyone know what rings you need for a CZ 17 varmint ?? al4x
rings wise you'll be very very marginal, 56 needs high definitely but I can get 50 on mine with mediums but you can only just get a fag paper between the scope and the barrel. But I like it to be as close as possible so prefer it that way. I'd buy the mounts from your local shop so you can take them back if need be

Just wondering, whats the difference between the Nite Eye and the Nite Eye SR ?? Also does anyone know what rings you need for a CZ 17 varmint ?? That's the scope i have on mine - perfect for a 17 in my opinion. I have Hawke match high rings (here) the SR has a specialist reticule like this... (handy for distance shots/wind allowance) which on a 17 at 24x mag equate to... Edited February 26, 2009 by nickbeardo
Lloyd90
Is that the same mounts as there ? http://opticswarehouse.co.uk/proddetail.as...akweMatchMounts Is there any real advantage on a IR ? Thinking the regular Nite Eye will be the best maybe. the 6.5-20x50 one Btw would you get flip up scope covers in clear or amber ? Lloyd90
picture of the whole lot here.... Bloody ell its a big scope lol What you got over the end of the mod mate ? Or am I mistaken and its nothing lol Will those Hawke high Rings clear the varmint barrel ??
Beardo
they just look like the big picture above. they also do all of the reticules below... http://www.hawkeoptics.com/riflescopes/niteeye/index.php but i'm pretty sure the 6-24 only comes with the SR http://www.hawkeoptics.com/riflescopes/niteeyesr/index.php they do a 6.5-20 in Mildot, that's the closest

I've got a black neoprene moderator cover to cut down ringing/knocking it. and yeah they will clear the Varmint
Beardo
my one word of warning on that scope - it's not got great eye relief as it's such a high power scope
Lloyd90
Will be going for the mildot, priced up on opticswarehouse its £148.03 including shipping & tax for the 6.5-20x50 AO IR Illuminated Mildot , set of Hawke flip up covers and Hawke Match Mounts "1 High. Havent payed for anything yet so have tie to think about it lol
