Guest
While I was shooting today there was this woman shooting who was a good shot and had shot before and was quite good. She started telling me a story how she was shooting the roll clays that mimick a rabbit and one tie she shot at the clay, missed and managed to bag a real rabbit, at this time she said that she was horrified and started crying while her husband was excited that she had got her fist rabbit. My reply was: yeah I would have been happy, means we're having rabbit stew tonight. I initially thoght that all sporting clay shooters liked to shoot game or sympathised with hunting but this woman seemed nearly an anti and she was hell of a good at shooting clays. So is there really a difference in sports clay shooters and game shooters?
Beardo
there's a helluva lot of clay shooters who wouldn't shoot game, my mum and her other half for starters
LeeinVA
My son cant kill a critter of any sort.. I asked the misses if he truly was my son She, unlike me, failed to see that humor in that question
hairyduck
I have no plans of shooting game, just clays... Having said that if I had a big house with a lot of land and a rabbit problem then I wouldn't hesitate in dispatching them.
Bleeh
Shooting Game and Clays are completly different games with different rules. It's like compairing Football and Rugby, as they both involve getting a ball past a goal.

Tommo
Hate to say it but wasn't that the reason why clays were invented!!! lol ha ha ha (i should add l never shoot clays now), as l have shot with a few club/trapped for them before and saw too much hypocrisy, back stabbing and bent treasures, not to mention the flash harry's who could afford the best guns (walked around professing so...) then couldn't shoot ****. So cant be bothered. i dont think its ever a case of us and them, you have people who only clay shoot, others only sporting, and some do a mix of both - one to further the abilities in the other. Suppose it all depends on how you look at it, personally l'd rather be sat in a high seat, or in a pigeon hide using my 'field craft' to further my ability! Peter De La Mare
Not particularly keen to shoot game m'self, though I support everone's right to do so, hence why I joined BASC. Clays only for me. Yes, I have a mesh backed vest and funny coloured shades. Edited February 24, 2009 by Peter De La Mare
ChrisNicholls
So come on, who are the better shots, the pork pie eating game shooters or the greasy burger eating clay shots Should liven up the debate a bit We had a very good clay shot (AA) turn up at our shoot, he just blended in with the ordinary there I'm a pretty good game shot but you regular clay blokes are whooping my '***** weekly
AdamW
Clay shooters are mostly going to be better shots, they shoot an average of 100 clays most Sundays, game shooters shooter only through the game season, I doubt even pigeon shooters shoot as much as clay shooters. But they are all different in their own ways with some needing field craft, some needing good gun and eye movement, and the other needing loads of cash! Blackbart
Clay shooters will be better at shooting clays and real bird shooters will be better at shooting the real thing. How many times have you heard the clayshooters excuse of "did you see that clay dip there" as an excuse for missing it ? I also think there is more snobbery at clay grounds than in the field.
