Nicky T
Went yesterday to the Shooting Show and was thoroughly under-whelmed, especially considering as it was my first shooting show. It had the potential to be a good show but lacked one vital ingredient - atmosphere! Whilst some of the stanads were exceptional to have a look at such as the Purdey and Kreighoff booths, most were a fight to the front fighting your way through an overcrowded booth to see what was actuall on show in the display counters. I was expecting a lot more from the show - certainly more than i got, but am not currently rushing to repeat the experience next year. I've never experienced a Game Fair - is it worth it compared to this weekend?

I've never experienced a Game Fair - is it worth it compared to this weekend? Gamefair is 20x times the size. The shooting show was a bit of a joke to be honest. I have emailed them with my views on the show and the overpriced entrance fee. The following shows are very good: CLA gamefair Midland Gamefair Kelmarsh

Chard
I was under the impression there was going to be shotguns which you could try out on the clay line but never saw any, on the advert it actually said "Try shotguns on the clay line". They probably meant that you could try your own shotgun
Paladin
We went Saturday morning (must have spent about half hour waiting to get round the island) about 8 o'clock. and then spent about another half hour standing in line waiting to get in. was it worth it? allready got all the camo I can wear, Not enough (affordable) guns or ammo. Best part of the day was on the Winchester stand watching the Pat Flanigan Video. Will we go next year? Nope. Wish I had gone to Shugburough Saturday, but went today (Sunday) that felt better. Fatcatsplat
I tend to go to the shows where they have other distractions, like the show arenas, cos otherwise it's a bit like paying a tenner to go shopping!!

lazza
Me and my mate picked up a couple of bits, a pair of seeland breeks each at £29 which was good value, a gerber knife each and I picked up some stuff which should stop my goggles from steaming up, from the craft tent . My mate also picked up some binos which were reasonable for what they were. I reckon we saved the tenner on the breeks alone. It was ok for a few hours but would have liked to have seen more going on outside.

Andy W
I forgot to mention, as we purchased advance tickets and we were shooting it, we had a car park pass for car park "G" adjacent to the clay line with an entrance to the show there as well, no queing at all. jonnyoftheboy
just thought I'd add my bit. went up with the other half & spent the weekend at Thorsby Hall - about 20 miles north of the show - a warner leisure hotel.... felt like I'd turned up on a saga holiday! had a 2 day ticket for the show...... (whilst the mrs. spent a day in the spa!) followed a yellow AA sign for the show that took me a slight backway along the A17 that bypassed all the traffic queues otherwise would have been fuming I think.... as I arrived 11am 'ish on the sat - saw the huge queue of traffic..... & went back with the other half to look at some dog cages on the sunday morning around 9.30am & the queues were bad again... so had a result there Overall, the show was very disappointing as everyone has said on the previous posts. Was HUGELY BUSY - early on you couldn't get near a gun to try & hold one! But agree with Rhiannon that it really emptied out after 2.30 & you could finally move around & look at things properly. Seemed that some stands were doing a roaring trade - easy hit must have made a fortune!! Whereas the guys from Sportboxes who had those wooden drawers that go into your Range Rover to hold your champagne (yeah, I wish!) looked bored ****** with no-one ever at their stand. Very poorly laid out, not as many exhibitors as I thought would be there. I think they will have a bit of an issue if they run it again. 1st year it has gone ahead.... was very well supported by us attending.... but with not enough stands, & the poor organisation... most of us won't be going back. However, from an exhibitors point of view... looking at visitor numbers I would think quite a few more may show next year. So, will next year have loads more exhibitors, but far few visitors? & then into the vicious circle? Thought the gun dog area was really poor.... very few exhibitors. But did enjoy watching the actual gun dog scurry trials. The BASC would have made a wee bit, as the lessons seemed to go down a storm & some people had up to a 2 hour wait for one! The competition was interesting to watch.... a real mix of abilities. I, personally, found it worthwhile only because I found talking to the easy hit guy ref. eye dominance issues was helpful, & picked up a deal on a skeet vest & a different jacket. I also had a nice weekend at the hotel. But if I had travelled especially for the show.... would have been a bit of a disappointment
