HW682
Well seing as the entire philosophy being brewing and distilling is to produce a product which deliberately changes the metabolism of animals, it doesn't seem quite that poinless to me. What exactly did you think you were going to be studying for 3-4 years full time? When I did my degree (Applied Physics and Electronics in 1984) we were told that on average you could expect to use maybe 10% of what you had learnt. Of course different people would use a different 10%. The idea of a degree is to undertake an in depth study into a subject. A bit of chemistry, physics and biology would all seem useful when studying brewing and distilling. HW682 BSc (Hons) MInstP edited in case that sounded a bit harsh. A degree is meant to be hard work and challenging. However, when you look back later, those 3-4 yesrs may be the best years of your life. So, work hard and play hard ...just don't expect much sympathy from everyone else in the "real world" Edited March 8, 2009 by HW682
Greenhunter
Someone, can't remember who, told me that no knowledge is ever wasted! (could have been Confusious ) But most of us were taught algebra at school and I've never used it and I don't know anybody who has GH Dip A D(Hons). bruno22rf
Do you mean adipose tissue and its relevance in causing diabetes?-the only benefit the other way round is in regards to slowing down the absorbtion of insulin in type one diabetes?-by the way i was type one diabetic for over 30 years-if poorly controlled i dont think the body suffers from adipose tissue-just the eyes, nerves and kidneys. death from below
it's healthy to question why and at the end of the day if you don't do it you don't get your degree........simple from a man who scraped an A level

HW682
All advice offered in good faith. If you are in your 3rd year there can't be long to go. Stick at it and best of luck.

Boomstick
Cheers, its not too bad now , we spend allot of time in the distillery and brewery so no complaints there! Sounds like the perfect degree - I'm doing medicine so I get all of the diabetes lectures and none of the brewery work! On the plus side, at least we have a good bar life
malkiserow
I think the difference is Training and Education. A degree is an education which is broader. Training for specific jobs is normally done in Colleges. Hang on in there
