billyo
does he butcher them himself or send them off to be smoked for bacon ect
Bryn
Boar shot with a .270 not sure of range but it dropped straight away. Boar is taken to a local butcher after it has been skinned and cleaned, who joints and makes sausages with whats left. The buthcher does this for £10.00 well worth it. lurcherboy
There is a very healthy population near me unfortunetly they are located in Wealden Woodlands Wildlife Park The excess numbers are slaughtered humanely and end up on the menu in a local pub though :o LB
Tommo
Just as a matter of interest mate, Do you generally shot them with a .270 but have something else on you (i know some pro's have handguns as a back-up) as some FEO's are aware of the tusks that these things can have/and use in the event of being injured?! i know the .270 is a hellish round for weight -> Speed etc. but in close quarters its a different story...i recall a photo l saw on here?? a while back of the massive boar shot in Wilts?? Bloke had a ruddy great big hand gun on him! T

Warlock
Boars have very thick skulls and it`s been known for a .303 round to richochet of a boars skull shot head on. Amazing creatures, even more amazing on a spit over an open fire.
glogin
Nice boar! Just quick check - you know that boars quite often carry trichinosis which can be very nasty (often fatal) to human? An option is either to examine a sample of meat with a microscope or deep freeze the meat for 1-2 months. Greg
