Make your hide so it blends in with your surroundings as much as possible, then if you have got it right sit and wait, only raise to shot at the last monment. dapper
Well I am pleased someone has asked this question. I was going to ask this exact same question! I am also rather pleased that people have also pointed him in the right direction and shown some nice helpful attitude which is I hope that this forum was designed for and also is what makes this forum in particular. We all had to start at the begining. Dave

Cranfield
Never be afraid to ask any question, no matter how basic it may seem to some. If they don't want to answer it, they are under no obligation to do so. Someone will always help you out.

Warlock
Always helps to try and shoot them, you generally find they don`t come back or take off that way. But good getting them to commit, you will find though that the next time you are out they will not want to know.
Richardinhoxne
Hi Ross, Pigeons are on grass around here in suffolk as well - they are always a real challenge and a good powerful sporting bird that always amazes me in what it can do. You've had lots of good advice - keep on asking the questions. If you do want to have a good read, have a look at an expert in his day - Archie Coats' book "Pigeon Shooting" which you can get from Tideline Books. I say "in his day" because I think at that time you could decoy with bits of plastic drainpipe but these days, the birds seem to have SatNav and radar. Anyway, good luck - one thing for sure is that once you see them coming, you'll enjoy every minute.
