weedraker
Hi, I had a couple of hours spare, so went on some fresh drilled barley. I got there about 9:00, set up, put magnet out just in front of the hide, had a few birds coming in but not really commiting. 5 minutes later the magnet broke, so I brought it in and just pushed the magnet arms in the ground to act as bouncers. Seemed to work a treat! Birds coming in nicely, But I could hardly hit a thing today! The birds were coming in so thick and fast I could hardly keep cartridges in the gun! There were many times when they came in from all directions I didn't know which one to shoot, so concequently I ended up shooting at none of them! I had a bit of a restricted view of the line of the birds coming in so I only ever had a split second to aim and shoot. And it was very windy. (all my escuses). Every time I went to pick up birds, more came diving in. Some even with me standing in the pattern. I also had several phone calls from work, that resulted in dozens of pigeons staring me in the face before leaving. Real easy shots. Whilst trying to have a conversation I was thinking about how I could hold the phone agains my ear and aim the gun. Hands free kit next time! I picked up 16 (some quite dificult shots), lost a few in the woods, missed about 30. If I had really been on the ball I should have had a hundred all in about 2 hours. There were so many that I didn't see soon enough and they were leaving by the time I got the gun up. The Purple squares are bouncers. Hide View from hide. It was like this most of the time, I was just too slow to react. I should have had a hundred but I was pleased with the 16. I've never had pigeons coming in like this before. And to top it off I was 2 miles down the road going home and it chucked it down! Can't wait to go back!

Cosd
Great post, and great pictures, I like the Google images with hide position and decoy layout, excellent work. Keep them coming, you can never have enough of info like this, much better than the usual posts of "I went shooting today and shot 2 million pigeons". Yeah great, tell us how and what methods you used!!
