The Essex Hunter
haha sounds great, share a pic of it with us if you have time please! Looks very impressive. do you know how much it cost you roughly? (including battery motor, parts etc) sometimes i consider building one but dont know how much of a saving it would be (I know you do it for the fun too). la bala
I see this magnet rotates clockwise, lots i have seen, including my own rotate anti clockwise, do the pigeons notice, anyone done an experiment
deny essex
Unless the the shaft is left hand threaded rotating clockwise can risk the shaft to arm nut coming lose as it kick starts up, or in strong/gusty wind conditions (had that happen in the early days) the result can be the shallow shaft splines shear away. The Juicer
I've had trouble attaching images but hopefully you see its 3 pronged I have now cut the height down, slid a thinner tube inside, drilled and tapped it so its height adjustable for standing crops. Am waiting to get the motor before making the mount. Edited September 1, 2014 by The Juicer

The Juicer
I'll put two birds on it. I was just guestimating sizes as I went along. I'll measure it up. I chose to make it sturdy so widened the base to what I thought was good. I've zinc painted it now and will maybe camo it up next. As I had the welder out I made a smaller 4 pronged one as well, may as well as I'll leave one at a relatives for when I'm shooting there. Pic to follow. He has the motors in a car so I've to wait til Friday when I'm visiting him again.
silver pigeon69
nothing wrong with making it sturdy, except maybe the weight if you have to carry it far? i like the idea of making the main shaft height adjustable
The Juicer
I've a few fields where I can drive fairly close to so won't have too far to carry it, if I have a helper, even better. Yeah I thought I may as well make it adjustable with a little thought as I've recently got shooting at barley fields. And I've just noticed this threads from 2009! matt 205 gti
Looks like some good work gone into that matey , very sturdy bit of kit , the base of that thing is immense , thats not going to wobble in soggy rape fields !
