just got back from Selby and had a good day, i know last year was a complete wash out but it was still better than i remember, only 2 stalls for pigeon gear but loads of clothing and other stalls, 2 gundog events for the doggy people (a simple scurry and a quite hard working test). still not sure why its 10 quid each to get in when all the other gamefairs they run are only 7. with decent weather a good day out

Went today - not bad for a little show - food as usual OTT on price but got a couple of bargains.

Funny, but bulk of gundogs seemed to be labs, is this a yorkshire thing?

The thing that got my lot was the amount of litter left in the parking areas as we left, just dumped from the cars particularly in the early arrivals areas, Disgusting!!.

ok lads.

im on for sunday so if anyones about, im the gobby one in the pink hat at the BASC stand.

bob.

been today but i didnt see a basc stand ? enjoyed it more than the newark fair ,got on the clays with only a 10 min wait (1hr 30 ) at newark , sat through the game cook (mallard &venison) 100% exellent couldnt taste what was cooked (its not allowed) so stole some of the mallard and it was perfection , the wife stole some of the venison and loved it top marks to KEVIN ROXBY the demonstration chef who tried to stop everyone stealing his creations , my opinion its worth going to :hmm:

yup had a bit of a nice day myself, new jumper and stalking hat, also no basc stand but headed for a basc flag thinking there was one,

kids had a great time and spent so much money it was silly, food costs where way over the top,

anyway i meet 3 people from the BBS and a couple of lads i knew from Doncaster,

nice show but lacks the big boys, but judging the price they have to pay to pitch a stand, we will not be seeing many at the big shows either, some on the stands here say the big fairs are still asking well over the £1.000 to pitch a stand of about 40 foot square.

sad, this is what killed ham radio in this country, the greedy getting greedier, so greedy infact that it drove the hobby into the ground.

e today, weather was great which made the day,but not worth £10.00 entry fee and then £5.00 for the young lad just to walk round some deals to be had but other than that most things a bit pricey.but it was nice to get chance to go to a game fair at last without the weather being a problem and it getting cancelled.LW.

Might have to have a word with the lads and do the next selby fair then lads, bit dissapointing that there were no bargains to be had, ah well, if there were only 2 pigeon stands there then you certainly would have struggled.

:):D:D

Might see you there next year guys...............Cant have only 2 stands with no bargains..................

We were visiting family in Leeds over the weekend so popped over on Sunday. It was okay, but nothing special. I think Game Fairs are a good cheap day out, especially if you remember to take your own food. (Or do what my husband does and try all the free samples several times!)

Agree with all the positive comments re: Kevin Roxby. At least this time he made something vegetarian so I finally managed to steal some of his food. The 4 minute cheesecake was awesome, can't wait to have a go at it myself. I think he was being ironic about using low fat Philadelphia in something that is made with half a pint of double cream though :good: Going to have a bash at the rabbit with mange tout and pickled ginger, and also the pheasant in red pepper reduction (figure I can make both a veggie version and meat version at the same time without too much faffing around).

Didn't spot any bargains though.
