bruno22rf
After a similar experience late last year i have suffered the indignity of offering free shooting and not getting a reply for the last time. One chap wanted to know if a .22 rimfire would be suitable for his needs and i offered to take him out and have a go on my land-he only lives about 20 miles away-no response after several weeks so he can forget it for a start.Second guy posted saying that after airgun shooting for a considerable time he wanted to try live quarry but couldnt find anywhere to shoot-this guy lives less than 15 minutes away.Despite posting a reply offering my land/help i still have not recieved the decency of a reply and have noticed by looking at his profile that he (and the first chap) has been on this site several times since.I sometimes wonder why i bother so i have come to the decision that i will not bother anymore. :angry:PLEASE DO NOT PM ME UNLESS I HAVE CONTACTED YOU IN REFERENCE TO THIS MATTER. Suffolk shooter
Hold on Bruno, did it occur to you that either of the guys might not be that proficient in PMing? (Although to have got as far as you have with them says they must have done) Granted it is a bit of a liberty, and one you have every right to feel P'd off about, but don't let that stop you from offering others the chance to enjoy what to the majority of us on the forum a great hobby/career/pastime. If you can get one person to enjoy and take up the sport from a hundred who expressed an interest then it will be worthwhile. Over the years I have taken a number of people out, from my friends, work collegues, next door neighbours, friends of my eldest daughter, their parents and even people who are a friend of a friend. Out of these people only a few have taken up any form of it, but more enjoy freshly shot game, pigeon, rabbit, venison, that either I or others provide for them. They now understand why we do the things we do and what a great source of free and healthy food shot, snared, trapped there is out there compared to that found in the supermarket. Give it another chance and the next one may surprise you. SS

deny essex
Dont let the ignorant or cant be bothered change your manner bruno, its a good guy that offers to share his land and knowledge to others with the hope of enjoying the company of an up and comming sportsman. Im guessing and from 30 years past experience that out of 100 people that want to fire a gun of any type and the ones that manage to go out in the fields that only a single figure percentage actualy take it up as a hobby or more. Dont blow the good ones away for the ignorance and bad manners of others. I find it very rewarding to help thoose keen enough to persue our sport, when the right person turns up im sure you will enjoy helping them as much as i do . scout
I've taken out a few from this sites and others, and I must say that most have had the decency to turn up, and some are , will become regulars whose company I enjoy. Just ignore those who can't be bothered and give someone else a chance, there's a lot of good people out there who may miss out if you don't bother in the future, with what is a very generous offer. mark_mjs93
bruno, im so sorry i havent got back to you... during the time we spoke via the pm system a while ago i was really looking forward to meeting you and going shooting, but had totally forgotten your kind offer, this wasnt intentional and i am extremely sorry about it... your offers were extremely generous(?) and i kept meaning to pm you about the .22rf offer, but it totally went from my mind and i forgot... i do appologise, and if i have offended you i am extremely sorry, i would like to take this chance to say, please dont let me or the other chap put you off, i would normally have torn your arm off to get back to you on the offer, but i totally forgot to... this wasnt my intention, but notall people are like this and alot wouldnt forget said offers... once again i appologise if i've offeneded you mate... Blunderbuss
That's plain bad manners, but don't give up. It was a very generous thing to offer and most people would be far more grateful, I wish you lived nearer to me! I'm struggling to find a pigeon decoying opportunity near me, and would bite someone's arm offer if I was offered the opportunity to go out with someone more experienced! If I was but couldn't make it due to family or other commitments, I'd make damn sure I let then know and apologised in plenty of time. Selfless offers of help from the experienced to newcomers are the lifeblood of any sport. With any luck those who you take out will remember the good turn and pass it on to others to the benefit of our sport
