Nicky T
I guess that you just pays your money and takes your chance. Never been "squadded" in a shoot before so can't comment on it whether i like it or not just yet. Certainly not against it though in principle, so i guess we'll have to see who's lucky enough to get squadded with me

You need to concentrate on trying to shoot the bird in the "right" place, not leaving it too long. All of this comes with experience, but I would recommend shooting a bit of skeet, as it's very good practice for Sporting and teaches you timing and rythym. Squadding should not be compulsory at any Sporting shoot, competitors should be free to start on a stand of their choice, at present it's a bit like insisting that some skeet shooters start on Stand 1 High Single, whilst others are forced to start on Station 4 Doubles. Cat. Thanks Cat, appreciate the kind comments and have already taken the pointers that you gave me at Southdown and have already started to integrate them into my shooting Experience is a wonderful thing so I'm busying myself by getting out and about and experiencing as many different shoots and grounds as possible so if anyone on here ever fancies a shoot - let me know
leaseone
I have been FORCED to do it on Thursday , I hate the sound in those Cabins so will only get about 45% Obviously not up to the Cats standard (I was forced as my mate has a trophy to take back and he will pay me to go as no one else wanted to)

Catamong
Steady on young Paulos, there's only room for one bandit on this forum, and Mung's got the monopoly on that one. Anyway, you can shoot, you don't need to blag it. Cat.
MC
The way you are shooting at the moment Cat the competition will be fairly tight in A class.

MC
Good job the Essex Masters isn't registered then, 152/200 puts you bang in the middle of A class.
Peter De La Mare
Aye, along with the 'lost' scorecard from the registered shoot at Southdown last month.
MC
Thanks Peter, I am sure he didn't want the world to know about that. Maybe he is one of the cheaters that Boakes was talking about in Pull mag. Never mind Cat, You can always come out with the Essex boys and duff up a few young farmers when it all gets too much for you.

They'll be none left after you've finished with them , still, I suppose you could always move on to the Womens Institute..?? Oh, and, just for the record, ALL of my scorecards, good or bad, (and there's plenty in the latter category), get submitted. Cat.
Peter De La Mare
Oh, and, just for the record, ALL of my scorecards, good or bad, (and there's plenty in the latter category), get submitted. That's cool. :look: You'll wanna check with Southdown/CPSA as your result for the 120 birder we were at hasn't made it to your scores on the website, and it'm missing from the overall results for the shoot. Nicky T
So with the first day of the Open done and dusted how did anyone shooting it today get on?
Peter De La Mare
Appallingly. 59/100. *insertmasterbatingiconhere* Great ground, great birds, lousy shot.
Nicky T
Don't be too hard on yourself Pete, plenty more shooters still to attempt (and potentially fall foul of) the Open this year. Looking forward to seeing the ground for myself and checking out the birds on Sunday
leaseone
71 Went round with John Dyson who set a lot of the targets, and I will say dont belive the amount of Lead you need. On stand 14 (started here) John said 'double what you think' WHY its only a silly little skeet bird?missed the first one, he was right! Faulds 92 Ben H 91 I found it Blo**y hard!!! Highlander
I don't shoot clays (much) so what do I care but you guys make me die...£53 per 100 birds that's around .50p each. What the hell can you buy for that? Especially something that gives you so much enjoyment get real! Oh and by the way it's raining hard here now so 'English' Sporting is living up to it's reputation. MC
My local supermarket was doing Stella at 7.99 for 20 bottles. That is less than 50p each, much more fun than turning grey, donning your safety glasses and becoming a CPSA nerd.

I don't think taking the price of the clays to it's lowest denominator really makes a difference does it! It's still £53 for a hundred. Next time you buy some game carts give your dealer double the price, after all you get some much enjoyment from it!
