I guess that you just pays your money and takes your chance.

Never been "squadded" in a shoot before so can't comment on it whether i like it or not just yet. Certainly not against it though in principle, so i guess we'll have to see who's lucky enough to get squadded with me

Well, having shot with you at Southdown, (where even local Essex Hotshots fear to tread  ), I'd say you've got the basics of a very good shooting style.

You need to concentrate on trying to shoot the bird in the "right" place, not leaving it too long. All of this comes with experience, but I would recommend shooting a bit of skeet, as it's very good practice for Sporting and teaches you timing and rythym.

Squadding should not be compulsory at any Sporting shoot, competitors should be free to start on a stand of their choice, at present it's a bit like insisting that some skeet shooters start on Stand 1 High Single, whilst others are forced to start on Station 4 Doubles.

Thanks Cat, appreciate the kind comments and have already taken the pointers that you gave me at Southdown and have already started to integrate them into my shooting

Experience is a wonderful thing so I'm busying myself by getting out and about and experiencing as many different shoots and grounds as possible so if anyone on here ever fancies a shoot - let me know :good:

Thanks Peter,

I am sure he didn't want the world to know about that. Maybe he is one of the cheaters that Boakes was talking about in Pull mag.

Never mind Cat, You can always come out with the Essex boys and duff up a few young farmers when it all gets too much for you.

They'll be none left after you've finished with them :D , still, I suppose you could always move on to the Womens Institute..?? :hmm:

Oh, and, just for the record, ALL of my scorecards, good or bad, (and there's plenty in the latter category), get submitted.

That's cool. :look: You'll wanna check with Southdown/CPSA as your result for the 120 birder we were at hasn't made it to your scores on the website, and it'm missing from the overall results for the shoot.

Went round with John Dyson who set a lot of the targets, and I will say dont belive the amount of Lead you need.

On stand 14 (started here) John said 'double what you think' WHY its only a silly little skeet bird?missed the first one, he was right! :good:

Faulds 92

Ben H 91

I found it Blo**y hard!!! :)

I don't shoot clays (much) so what do I care but you guys make me die...£53 per 100 birds that's around .50p each. What the hell can you buy for that? Especially something that gives you so much enjoyment :) get real!

Oh and by the way it's raining hard here now so 'English' Sporting is living up to it's reputation. :good:

:P I don't think taking the price of the clays to it's lowest denominator really makes a difference does it! It's still £53 for a hundred. Next time you buy some game carts give your dealer double the price, after all you get some much enjoyment from it!:lol:
