BOZZ
hi all , i,m after some guidence the farmer on the land i shoot on has a couple of fox,s that need dispaching and he has asked me to sort it for him ,this will be my first go at dispaching a fox . i will be using my beretta semi for the job so the imfo i am after is what shells should i use, and were is the best place to shoot them for the cleanest kill shot, i am hoping to call the in to about 20 - 30 yards any guidence would be welcome regards bozz
Evil Elvis
i USE 42G BB'S for foxes, shoot them in the chest, but to be honest if you can get them into to 20-30 yards(good luck with that) then a headshot will be equally as instant. al4x
a heavy load of 3's will do fine at that range and pattern a lot better than much larger lead
Lez325
The problem you will have is getting him into range I use a digital caller which works very well- good luck with it Les :look:

JDFrain
Take it that these fox will not have been shot at before, best bet may be to bait an area with a couple of dead rabbit etc leave them until you know the fox are taking them then just keep re-baiting and go out and wait until charlie comes along. (staying very well hidden with no aftershave on lol) Or get yourself a live trap and try that way. and a few snares. shottyscotty
AAA full choke up to 50 yards do the job really good but bbs, 0 and 1 are also good because the extra shot means your more likely to hit a vital spot. eley mammoth game 3" 50 gram bbs are cheapish and work really well
BOZZ
THANKYOU all for your coments on this subject you have all given me some good advice , and i am a lot wiser on the subject know many thanks and regards bozz
Paul223
Excellent advice John Bozz, also ask the farmer if he's seen the fox, and at what time? foxes will usually come round at the same time each night if undisturbed, and will usually follow the same route, so one night's reconnaissance can lead to another nights ambush
bsg
any load heavier than 36gr in size 3 shot or bigger works fine
Epic Fail
try AAA or SG loads
Lez325
or use my 22.
Paul223
try AAA or SG loads Sorry mate but Sg shot is almost useless, try a pattern plate at 30 yards and see for yourself. IMHO heavy loads of no1 or bb work best
digdeep
Get a terrier Failing that snare them, or get a lamp, and learn how to call them, this way they will come running to you.
bjlfishing
if the farmer is seeing then regular get in the area and have a hour callin at dusk they will be feeding cubs and if they are anything like the foxes round me you will nearly have to kick them so you dont shoot off you foot there is never a better time to call foxes apart from when they are big daft cubs at the end of september and heavy load between 3 shot and aaa s will do the job
