Teal
That's the thing Sergeant, on the really big stage she just hasn't proven herself, and until (if) she does she will never be the greatest female british athelete or in the top 10 in the world (in my opinion). HAMMY
FM, maybe if she was as patriotic as you, she would have a medal or two.......she seems to be able to do it for cash though.....great athlete and have great admiration for her in a brutal event, but Bottled it too many times. From what I've seen Hubby comes across as a bully!! Hammy
Devilishdave
How do you know she does it for cash!! Dont most woman?? She is a supreme athlete what ever way you choose to look at it. It strikes me that she has many arm chair critics who could not run the length of them selves. B4 any one goes of half cocked that is not aimed at any one in particular just a general observation. Cranfield
Dave, just because we cannot do better than those we criticise, doesn't prevent us being entitled to criticise them. Every Sunday pub lunchtime discussion about football, would have to stop, if that were true. Edit Note; I'm not sure what Ern edited, but I didn't use bad language, nor was I rude. Edit Note 2; The "edited by ernyha etc" script has disappeared now. Edited April 18, 2005 by Cranfield
Devilishdave
I have dabled in years gone by with half marathons and have a few friends who are hard core runners who do marathons within 30 mins of the winners and they strangely enough have nothing but admiration for her, its a strange world when those who are doing it at a reasonable level admire her and those that dont run condemn her. Nidge
I think she is a class runner but like others said she wont get to be called the best until she wins at the olympics which is deemed to be where the best of the best compete. Fisherman Mike
I have dabled in years gone by with half marathons and have a few friends who are hard core runners who do marathons within 30 mins of the winners and they strangely enough have nothing but admiration for her, its a strange world when those who are doing it at a reasonable level admire her and those that dont run condemn her. Dave I agree with that Dave... I have done the London marathon twice in 87 and 92.... Im too embarressed to tell you what my time is.... I dont agree that an Olympic medal is the prerequisite for greatness I doubt if we will hear much from the winner Mizuki Noguchi again or even Kelly Holmes for that matter. Paula is the World record Holder over 26 miles and until she gets beaten and beaten in a faster time she will be the worlds No. 1 in my opinion. Remember how she won the Chicago Marathon in 2002 beating "The Worlds Greatest Female Runner" Kenyan Catherine Ndereba in to second place. How short our memories seem to be..... FM. Cranfield
According to todays newspaper, she will get £600,000 for winning the London Marathon. If I had known there was that much money at stake, I would have had a go. How much do you get for winning the Olympic Marathon ?
