jsync
Hi, The CLA Game Fair is local to me this year and I am in the market for a few things. What is the chance of getting the following at good prices or am I better seeking things out over the net? I've been several times before but only been interested in a good day out rather than prices. Sport tac defenders Gun slips New 12G (maybe Lanber) or maybe 2nd hand something Clothing Thanks,
JonnyR
Hi, I know last year my local RFD did a special show price on a 12g Beretta but every year is different, I don't think he is even going this year. Usual rules apply I guess, check out prices etc on the net beforehand and be prepared to walk away if you can't get a deal. Also I am a great believer in having a relationship with your local gunshop in case anthing goes wrong in future - which it has recently for me and he sorted it. Jonny. Greenhunter
There are always deals to be had. I've swapped/bought most of my guns there over the years. Never pay what they ask on the ticket. I never have and like as has been said, be prepared to walk away if the deal doesn't suit you. I've usually gone on the last day, spent the morning looking for the gun/clothing I want and then haggle in the afternoon!
mudpatten
Its worth checking the small print on some manufacturers warranties before you buy. Sometimes they insist that, in the event of any problems, the gun be returned to the dealer from whom you originally purchased it. If you buy from a dealer at a fair whose actual premises are at the other end of the country then you`re in for some extra cost and aggravation. Most of my local gunshops will, with very little haggling,at the very least and due to the current economic climate, match the cheapest price you can find advertised. Always worth visiting your local gunshop first with a handful of cash. If they don`t want your business then try the Game Fair.
J@mes
I've always found that the clothing on offer at shows is in the unsellable sizes (small and xxxl) and generally the stuff they cant shift for a reason!
Dunkield
As has been said, do your homework so you know how much you can buy stuff for, NOT the RRP and then haggle. If you can't get a discount try and get some extras through in. I bought my rimfire, mounts, bag, sling etc at the Midland GF years ago, and got it all for a better price than I had seen anywhere else. J@mes if you think XXXL clothing is unsellable, you need to meet more PW members

rjimmer
Even if stuff is not much cheaper at the Game Fair at least it's there. You can spend a lot of time and money on travelling all over the country finding different items at the best price. Take plenty of money and buy plenty of stuff to spread the cost of going to the Fair over.
Guest topshot_2k
There are bargains to be had, do your homework before, dont let them push you into anything and dont pay the asking price
jsync
Thanks for the replies, some interesting points: - Make the most of it by getting as much as possible - Availability of products - Warranty issues for guns I think I'll concentrate on the ancillaries and maybe give the gun a miss, unless something turns up that i can't refuse...... Oh and I get the point about supporting the local gun shop, although I haven't got round to visiting one yet!
