I ment young tree's, sapplings, young flowers, any new growth that they can fit into there greedy little mouths.

Threat is a bit of media hype and they really should clarify that. Yes they are destructive of certain types of plants but only if the numbers are great in an area. Bigest problem seems to be in gardens as they love certain types of flowers but then so do most deer.

I wonder if they can now be considered 'established' in the wilds of Ireland or is this just an isolated escapee from a private or zoo collection? Bit like boar here in England...no one ever owns up to letting them loose but how else are they spreading so fast!

I don't think they will be considered a threat over here, as this is the 1st wild one i've heard of being knocked down, down round were i live we have a lot of trouble with reds jumping across the roads and causing car crashes!! don't know about the other NI guys but dear are a nuisance round here!!!

i was asked yo shoot deer locally that were being a nuisance.i have n`t the equipment heavy enough for the job so i passed it by.it was only going to be a few deer so there was nt much point in a big outlay for the right rifle. something tells me it is a minimum of a 243 for deer over here and you need a dsc to get one. correct me if im wrong

I think you're right and need the DSC1, the psni wouldn't give me a .222 so i'm not going to try with them!!
