agusta
Please do not post spoilers in the title of a thread! It happened during qualifying not the race. He is currently under sedation in intensive care, fractured skull apparently!
Tommo
Reading the paper today, it was doing 175mph when he hit the wall unconcious. There is also a picture of him in the car, helmet on sat in the wall, the bolt/whatever it was that hit him made a total mess of the helmet (there's a 4" gash over his left eye area) and the visor is mashed. That's what l call a one in a million chance - really unlucky, l hope he makes a full recovery because he's a decent drive and seems to be a decent bloke too. Axe
It seems ironic that this should happen given last weekends tragic news at Brands Hatch. How unlucky do you have to be?! My fingers are crossed for him.

My fingers are crossed for him. Well that's just it, all the measures in place to ensure driver safety but you can't stop something smacking them in the head, which seems to be the only issue in recent fatalities (or in this case serious injury). SXPhil
Alonso and Renault receive one race ban for knowingly sending him out with a missing wheel nut A reaction to the incident no doubt Edited July 26, 2009 by PhilSIDC
ShropshireJohn
Alonso and Renault receive one race ban for knowingly sending him out with a missing wheel nutA reaction to the incident no doubt Also probably to do with poor Henry Surtees being killed in the F2 racing a few days back, killed by a flying wheel off another racers crashed car. mcs1972
Also probably to do with poor Henry Surtees being killed in the F2 racing a few days back, killed by a flying wheel off another racers crashed car. Its very much a hot topic in motorsport and only 7 days after the poor Surtees lad lost his life......From the replay that the beeb had which is the same that would of been shown ín the pitlane and via the kangeroo tv's that everyone has on the pitwall, it was fairly obvious within a few feet that the wheel wasnt secure.....renault should of basically black flagged by the marshalls and told to pit in...for the first few corners alonso was trying to reach race speed..... With regards to Felipe, he's a fighter....he's be ok lets home...He's a nice guy in real life, met him a few times..
