MM
been there at any point did you get the feeling of dread and doom that sets in ? i know i did. I then sat down and thought, "im only stuck in some mud" and it all feels better.
gixer1
and i can testify that it's near impossible to jack up a TD5 disco at the front when it's belly'd out! unless you dig a foot hole at the front put an accesible jacking point at the front of the next Discovery will you landrover!!!!!! gixer1
and after the car had been pulled out it looked like a bomb had gone off with all the digging i had been doing....

Lez325
Maybe MUD Tyres are the way forward- I never get stuck with mine ( just tempting fate now aint I???) Les
gixer1
It had brand new Bridgestone duelers fitted 100 miles before this picture was taken! Once i saw the ground underneath the surface it became apparent that flotation tyres would have been the only thing that could have saved me! Baldrick
Are you on peaty soil there, gixer, i.e. a thin layer of roots and foliage floating on top of a bed of minging quicksand? If so, take comfort in the fact that it can swallow up any machine that breaks the top layer of plant matter. You want to get yourself some proper tyres on that Disco: Goodrich AT or General Grabber AT2.
gixer1
To be honest the Bridgestones seem quite good but it just wouldn't have made any difference on this stuff!

apache
That's nothing - I once managed to get two 4 wheel drive tractors stuck in different field in the same week - in August. Was a wet summer 2003/2004. 1 was stuck in peat the other an underground spring caused the wheel to sink to it's axil and almost tip the tractor. Them's minor jams. Same summer I was involved in the rescue of a combine harvester stuck to it's axils. Took 4 100hp tractors to move that. Had to tow the tractor that took the wheat off with a 10m chain to get it out of the bog. Ah fun days............
gixer1
This was the view of one of the wheels during the night, as you can see it was just water logged!

DaveK
Muds are alright but whatever tyres you put on, once they become caked in wet mud like that they're all about as much use as a **** in a spacesuit. First time my landy got bogged, the Manitou trying to pull me out nearly went down as well.
