Harnser
At the moment the birds dont seem to want the cereal stubbles . On my farms all the stubbles that are going to be left till spring have been sprayed off and all the others have been cultivated or ploughed ,so the birds only have the stubbles that are going to over winter . Have not been able to shoot more than a handful at a time and I have tried at all times of the day . Ther are still a few birds going onto the one field of rape stubble left . Most of next years crop of rape has been drilled and some of it is just coming through . So the cycle goes on . Harnser .

Whitebridges
I've found it really tough on new stubble Harnser. Last few outings have yielded 6, 12, 3, 5, 58 and today 11. The first two sessions should have been better but bailing took priority. The 58 was out at North Norfolk and there seem to be a lot of birds in the areas at the moment. Maybe anser2 is looking in i'd be interested to hear how he's a getting on? The field I shot today (Suffolk) has just been seeded with OSR and they had been all over it at the weekend, but absolutely no wind this afternoon killed it after a few barrels. Good news is a lot of stubble has been left on my patches and hasn't been sprayed and the chickweed is getting a good start! Could be a turnaround in the next few weeks or so, fingers crossed. Cheers. Edited September 7, 2009 by Whitebridges

MerseaDavid
We shot a flightline on saturday where the birds were dropping on to a wheat stubble next door where we could not shoot and there must have benn 1000+ birds going on to this field But it is the first time I have seen them on wheat,
