apbuild
Anyone else ever been bitten by a horsefly and had a bad reaction? I set up the clay shoot as usual this morning and got bitten on the back of the hand. It has since come up like a balloon! Seeing as I have downed a few tinny's at our BBQ, I cannot take any anti-hystimine tablets to combat the reaction. Just what is the purpose of these horrible little *******. Still, must have swatted about ten or so this morning. Anyone else suffered as a result of these little pests? Rob.
The_Craws
I've not suffered at the hands of the horse fly. They just munched on me a few times.
apbuild
They munch on me and I always have a bad reaction! Even the best repellents do not help me. Maybe it's the amount of alcohol that I drink and sweat out! Rob.

apbuild
Shawn, The last time I was bitten on the calf, it itched for a couple of days and then came out in a four inch diameter bruise. I hate the little ******* with a passion. Rob.
Browning
Rob, we were cleaning out the pens ready for the poults over the weekend and I got eaten alive ! Just counting 12 blisters from horsefly bites.... nasty bleeders ! Anti histamine soon sorts them out for me.
Will Beasley
I got hit on the calf and it swelled up twice the size and did the 4 inch bruise thing. The army surplus store in Oxford sells some VERY strong insect repellent ( 100% DEET ) and that will keep them away. WS Supplies.
Highlander
Little ******** are lethal. Will is right, great stuff just don't get it on your lips or in your eyes. You'll go dumb and blind. Axe
Damn Horse Flies.......the most evil insect i've come accross. Ive been bitten more time than I care to remember. Each time i,ve been bitten I get a Tennis ball sized inflamation which is extremely painful. This is followed by a very nasty bruise and then a scar about 1/4inch in size which takes some weeks to heel over. They are truly the devils work. Regards, Axe. feather
Anyone else ever been bitten by a horsefly and had a bad reaction? Anyone else suffered as a result of these little pests? Rob. Over the years in Canada, I have found to "swat" a horse fly is wrong as this tends to inject into your flesh some of the **** in the fly. Try brushing the fly off the bite and then kill it away from the area, it works for me. Best regards, Feather

The_Craws
Midges arent too bad. They dont do much except crawl all over your face and get in your eyes. Apart from that they dont sting or anything.
