henry d
Following on from an earlier post about liver fluke( http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...05&hl=fluke ),I was out for a few hours at the rabbits etc. and when I cleaned the bunnies out there were a few of the 3/4 grown showing signs of fluke and those of a similar size without fluke seemed to be of a heavier weight. So I think that there seems to be a direct link between rabbit health and wellbeing and liver fluke.
lurcherboy
HD, seen similar on my scuts recently but not as bright with more spots. Any idea if it's the same? LB
henry d
Yes ! sometimes there are lots of little dots and other times there seem to be bigger almost horseshoe shaped bright yellow marks.Another thing that strikes me,but isn`t as noticeable in the photo,is the liver of an infected bunny is more red than purple,if you see what I mean
pin
I see them round our way about 1/10, perhaps a frac more. I see them with the yellow and with the white, sometimes feint sometimes not. All my instinct tells me you are right about infection vs size of rabbit (for a given age) but I have seen rabbits riddled with it and still an extremely healthy weight. peejay
ive been out tonight and 2 rabbits ive shot in one place had this. went over the other land- about 600 yards away-, shot 7 of mixed size and none of them had this. is it certain feeding ground that gives them this? henry d
PJ - Could well be as the ground they were shot on is permanent pasture for sheep and cattle.
peejay
henry--the ground i shot the 2 on only has only had cattle and sheep on. The other ground, although only a relitivly short distance, is the edge of the golf course.

Axe
Apart from being less plump, did they show any other signs of a possible fluke infection. Fortunately I havent found anything like this recently. Though surprisingly, Mixy has started popping up on a few shoots.

I have never found it once in all the bunnies I have prepared for consumption. Stealth Stalker
I,ve seen quite a bit of it lately, not a cow or horse for miles. I read somewhere that pesticides and weedkillers can cause it, that would explain the fluke in the bunnys on the sportsground. SS
