  1. No the old private wildfowling forum? I’m maybe thinking of another Del. I think it’s a great gun. No issues as of yet. I’ve had it since September and I’ve done a lot of flights with it. A bit light for 3 1/2” magnums I feel, not that I’ve fired any through it yet. It has the benelli/beretta Mobil choke system so aftermarket chokes would be easy to source if that’s your thing.
  2. The tide plays a big part where we shoot the geese on the foreshore. With the moon past the full the tide gets later and later. It was bang on 3am this particular night/morning. The prognosis wasn’t that great as we walked on. Very little noise of geese were heard. But as we all know there could be 5k of pinks in front of you but you’d never know. A small part of the allure of wildfowling. There was fowlers also out who seemed to be having success as there shots came down river towards us. We jealously waited our turn. It turned out to be a long wait. However our patience was rewarded in a magical 30min spell before high tide as pinks flooded over us. My friend was in the hot spot and accounted for 5, 2 for me. By the time we walked off and drove home I gratefully crawled in to bed at 5am.
  3. Facebook has killed it. There is still an absolute wealth of knowledge on if your prepared to trawl through it.
  4. No Del it’s a Redolfi wildfowler. Are you the same Del that was on the old wildfowling forum??
  5. I agree 100% moonflighting is the best. Plans are being made for more flights… 😂 One of my local estuaries is like that in the mornings so it mostly shot as a tideflight for duck in the day.
  6. This was a touch and go type of moon flight. We wanted to have a shot under the moon before Xmas, the cloud was thick but it was to thin as the night went on and there was a fresh breeze blowing so we thought stuff it we will go. It was very quiet as we walked out on the estuary but we heard enough to give it a few hours. In all honesty it was fairly boring with not much happening until well after 11pm. With the tide not far from the full the geese began to move and we got some sport. The most notable thing from the flight was my friend shooting his last goose at 11.58. Just minutes before we got in to Sunday and no shooting. So 2 geese each 3 pinks and a grey. Special mention to the silent hero my lab Ghillie. my contribution

    Mag 10

Yes it’s discontinued but I had a friend who was willing to pass on a kilo at a good price! Its actually pleasant to shoot, less kick than the same load in a 12g

    Mag 10

Yes more or less. I’m using ssb150 with 42 grams no1 for duck.

    Mag 10

That is true. It does make me laugh the stick fowlers get for plastic cases and wads being left on shore however it’s a tiny amount compared to other non fowling related rubbish that litters our shores.

    Mag 10

No I’m having to use plastic gas seals with the fibre shot cup which kinda defeats the purpose of the fibre cups but they were all I could get.

    Mag 10

Recently I purchased an Ithaca mag 10. Factory cartridges are horrendously expensive and not exactly easy to get a hold of. So it was the home loading way for me. 10g components are getting harder and harder to find particularly plastic wads so I had to get 10g fibre wads from clay and game. After a bit of trial and error I was happy with the shells. This morning I went away down to my local estuary for my first go with it. First shot had a lovely drake pintail in the bag which was soon followed up by another 2. Great way to christen the mag10
  12. From the wee bit research I did it looks like they are the Mobil choke system
  13. You got the reward for your effort, well done! Your a man after my own heart, getting way out in the mud is what I love best
  14. Surely the way things are it’s a worthy investment? I’d suspect they would sell very quickly?
  15. I know there is a move away from plastic wads etc but it wouldn’t be hard for clay and game to make plastic wads in the gauges that are really needed in 10g, 28g etc they would make a mint given how hard it is to source the above…
  16. Moonflighting up here is in rude health as far as I can see. It is a commitment if you have family or a job. BUT you get back what you put in.
  17. I still do yes. I have noticed a decline in the amount of guys as well. Normally on the low tides on my local estuary there would be guys out all over the place keeping the ducks going and most guns getting a shot. Nowadays I’m mostly out by myself and if you’re lucky you will get a fair flight of ducks over you. I appreciate folk get older and the mud isn’t for them anymore but the younger guys don’t have the hunger for it
  18. You got to be in it to win, well done though for persevering!

    SP12 wads

Would grey Winchester AA wads be any good to you?
  20. I recently got extended chokes from Italy and that was a carry on because they put “firearms” on it. The way the courier acted it was as if I was getting a bomb!!!
  21. I think the early bismuth was prone to breaking up upon firing.
  22. Try contacting Moongeese off of here, he was or is still vice chair of ESAWC

    DECOYS

Size and how many makes no difference unless you are where the birds want to be. in saying that one of the big estuaries I shoot with a friend we use floating goose decoys and they draw Teal up to well geese!
  24. Disaster! Going to have to buy more guns with the correct chamber to suit the cartridges 😂
