I must admit, I have never shot any pigeons on growing beans. I have several hundred acres of beans to go at this year, so I will watch them a little closer.
exactly the same here....never shot a pigeon on a field of young or growing beans..........are their tastes changing..
My wife knows full well what a walk in the Wolds usually involves. Today's wander was no exception if not a bit longer than normal.
In the last two days I have seen pigeons heading out of the roosting wood opposite my house in a determined manner. I know there are no peas nor laid barley in that direction so what was of interest? Some complaints about the length of the walk emanated frequently but the object was achieved when I came to two fields of beans in flower. Pigeons were dodging in and out of the field and landing on nearby power lines and dropping in.
These birds are safe for the time being as we are going on holiday tomorrow. Others with beans may see the same thing and find an opportunity for a few shots.
your good lady would be more interested in Sean Bean....no doubt

several years ago ...my mrs "tripped...stumbled"...on a local train as there were kids sitting all over the floor...and no supervision...............
upshot was that she ended up in Cambridge having surgery on her knee as a result.....................we had loads of sue em lawyers on the phone....not one of them did any good....didnt even get an apology from the rail company...or the school..............school says it wasnt their problem as their responsibility ends when they go out of the school gate
in short it was an utter waste of time............

what do the "Grinders" do....they spend a lot of energy winding bycicle pedals but nothing seems to happen.....are they winding generators up for the blades and sails..............

I took your post for what it was Ditchy - didn't read into it anything other than what you said in it and felt glad that others in life were content for the moment as it is.
I think many get negative and read into it more than what is written; that is their problem - not yours or your mate's.
Leave them to pick at it as they want to - but don't you worry about something good in your life you chose to share with us.

Think we have got away from the topic a bit.........all i was trying to say.....
i really take my hat off...(proberly Hero is a bit strong)...to people when they hit hard and difficult times....they dont look for councilling..they dont blame the system...they dont blame.other people...they dont moan...and they are not too proud to take a job a zillion steps beneath them....................
but what is more...when they take different work...they dont go there surley faced...and clock watch...and moan...they go there ...get the best out of the job and enrich other peoples lives...have a laugh...get the job done and the day goes quicker....there are several people on PW that are like that...they are triers...they wont be beaten...and for them the glass is ALWAYS half full never half empty.....
in this world there is too much negativity....i know there is a lot to be negative about...but you cant let it beat you...those people always look for the good bits...never harp on about the bad bits.........
dont let life grind you down...i just love it when i see people succeed...whatever size the prize is.....

Fair play to him, but I don't imagine he's on the breadline after earning 600k plus!
Polarising this I have an aqaintance who earns a million plus a year, with ridiculous bonuses and she'll pick up and challenge a discretionary penny when splitting a bill.
I reckon any of the better off members on here would be as generous as your mate, it's heard that mungler and AVB get taxed more that the UK defence budget.
i havnt pried..(well not that much anyway)..........i think it is to do with locking up loads of money in pension funds....i know he has broken into some of it.............regards spending it..i think he was only paying 12% tax...........i know his mrs goes loopy about the way he spends money...he is just soooo laid back....his idea is...."its money...when its finished ..its finished ...no bother no sweat...we wont starve"............when he goes on holiday....i mean holiday...he spends more on his holiday than i used to earn in a year...and i used to have a damn good job too....
ive never known him so happy and healthier.........he has even started working in the garden at the week end....now that is something.....the only thing he is moaning about is he wants to buy anther full set of Pings ..(this will be the 3rd set)...as he keeps forgetting to put them in the car when going to the club...he has membership of 4 clubs...so his idea is to have a set at each club.....
....that my friend is how you scrape by on a £2000+day rate.... he has 2 cased pairs of Gallyon's...and shoots pigeons in the hide with me ...with a dirty rusty old Baikle.....and i hope he never changes...
oh ...and his 4.2 rangy...is in the garage with 2 blown turbo's..as he cant afford the £4500 bill to have it fixed.....so he is running about in a nissan micra and his mrs is running about in some old nissan 4x4...................the boy hasnt got a care in the world.......

Just a story................
My shooting mate.....for the last 19months has been out of work due to the oil price...............he is some sort of consultant and on over £2000/day...
he likes fine wines.....Range rovers....golf...and expensive holidays and expensive guns.............he is one of the most generous people i know...and if we are in a party at the clay range he insists on paying for everyone....then we stop off at mc donalds and its the same there..............i mend and mantain all his garden equip.....he has electric start everything....strimmers...mowers.....etc...
Well he is brasic at the moment and decieded to register with an agency...to try and earn some money before the Dubia contract starts.............
he has a job now .......as a mattress delivery man ...drivers mate.......
.......and do you know what....he has never been happier....he laughs all day long (working 12 hour days)...he has lost loads of weight....made new freinds...and sleeps a full 8 hours every night......he earns less than the minimum wage............the mattress company ring the agency and ask for him everytime....even tho' he is semi disabled..(he lost half of his hand on an oil rig many years ago)...and only 5ft 5" in height..............i tell you what he is my hero...get stuck in...im really chuffed that someone who is used to earning very silly money is not too proud to get stuck in...

got to do the landrover enjine.....new pistons...valves...springs (different ones)....grind seats...new turbo..(rebuilt)...
want to turn it into a soft top this year....cant tho' as im finding it really difficult to sorce a set of hood sticks...( and im getting strapped for cash)...so it will have to wait until things improve...........
but if this rifle shoots good ...im going to get out and enjoy it.........

when im finished i will go thro' everything ive done to this rifle.............nothing big or drastic....just LOADS of small things ...rectifying faults (manufacture) and finishing off what should have been done in the factory...(and a tad more..
)cant do anymore until the new cocking lever arrives with the new Titan XS spring..(not as harsh as the Oxe spring)....
NOTE....what looks like iron fillings on the pics....is tiny flects of superfine graphite and moly powder....(dry lube)

dosnt matter what we think of corbyn's lot.....................................there are a lot of people out there starting to believe him....and that is worrying.....TM the PM might end up with an even smaller majority...........then there will be a slight re-assurgance in the UKIP vote which will ammount to zero seats for them....a wasted vote......
it really worries me in this so called "age of information"...........where everyone has their fingertips on their smart devices.......how utterly misinformed they are..and how unable they are to see through deception and actually make their own mind up......and not because some politican spouts off some cool unfounded retoric...
a few weeks ago ...the media was going thro' our fair cities asking people if they new who was Teresa May....who was Jemery Corbyn.....it was truly amazing to hear their answers...so many of them handnt a clue who they were....those that HAD heard of them said they thought they were on the telly.............

heard this all before....to my pain...........very interested in the out come, as i couldnt compleat my mission on the air arms i had to give back..........the air arms was also a non-break barrell...
that is one of the reasons i have chosen the break barrell merc s.............................

Seriously, these threads blow my mind, among the many things I'd change about myself would be to even have a gram of practical skills like this, I'm so far removed from doing anything simple DIY.

Oh and other one is to be a morning person.
If I were to start a topic like this documenting my training I'd get arrested having a pharmacology background.
Brilliant stuff, I've had to google most replies to make half sense, didn't even know how a turbo worked, do now.
