  1. Seems to me it's all a bit over the top. She was an everyday kinda bird who wasn't anything special. She wasn't without her faults, like none of us are. But a musical about her life? Come on! Let's touch on reality here. Ok, she had second thoughts and possibly made ammends for her comments in her second bout of BB but the thing is 1 in 3 or us will know someone who is/has sufferred with cancer throughout our lives. Personally, I've know 2 people to have been diagnosed woth Cancer. One with lung cancer who was diagnosed too late and it had spread to the rest of her body, including her brain. To see someone you care about look at you and not recognise you is something I never want to exprience first hand. The other was diagnosed with breast cancer. My book keeper. She has 2 young boys and she's been with me 7 years now. She was diagnosed with it 1 month after she kicked her old man out for cheating on her. She's an absolute brick and I think the world of her (after my Other Half) but I wouldn't think for one moment a musical will be made out of either of their lives.
  2. Well perhaps you'd like to explain that to me cos I'm a tad short on undertanding the difference between someone who had absolutely no intention of giving his ill gotten gains to the poor & needy and some pervert who gets off on young girls & boys?
  3. As to the fact that some say he's no longer a danger, does the same apply to pedo's or is that a different rule them and another rule for "real men's" crimes"? Never really understood that one. How is someone who carries out a violent crime for finacial gain different to someone who carries out a violent/non-violent crime for sexual gratification different? They committed a crime against society! The same Society that the rules & laws were put in place to protect the law abiding folk like most/all of us & which we abide by. Just because a child wasn't interferred with or a woman brutally attacked or raped doesn't make it alright. Regardless of age. He's a ******* ponce and should *** off back to his "adopted by him" country, regardless of what treatment is available. He made his bed, he should ******* lie in it!
  4. Send him back to Brazil. Seems to me we're just a meal ticket for those who are entitled to it as and when it suits them. He did his time in Brazil. Let go back there and end his days. Ronnie Biggs, the Krays and the likes have been romantisised and now are seen akin to Robin Hood. At least he had morals (Robin Hood), even if he is a fictional character. Let the ******* rot in an under-developed country and then he'll realise he wasn't such an anti hero after all. Freakin' ponce!
  5. Just wondered if anyone was going to the Keston clay shoot this Sunday? The Other Half is going to be popping her cherry so any support/encouragement she can would be most well received. If in any doubt, she'll have the largest breasts there. That's a personal guarantee and a fact. Just don't go drooling all over them as I'll have to wipe it up. And she gets pretty miffed when there's dribble marks on her vest. It does depend on what time of the month it is as to the degree of how miffed she gets but trust me when I tell you it will be at it's peek on sunday. She keeps a calander, in case you're wondering. That's how I know!
  6. Ah! Jeez Louise! I don't think I've heard such a bunch of whining, whinging, lame assed no hitters as this. If I didn't know better I'd have thought I was reading the minutes to the Jeremy Vine show. Get a grip on yourself man! Stop pussyfooting around and hit the ruddy things. If you can't do that then maybe Mother Nature is telling you you should put down your gun and take up golf. Just don't use the orange balls!
  7. There is another post on Youtube made up by some cornish freedom fighters which is worth a look. They do have a good old moan about how this group "stole" the cornish landscape for their own ends. I mean, get over it! They'll be moaning about the English stealing all their pasties next. Oh! No, they've already done that one. Could be worth a wind up though.
  8. Maybe but St. Patrick wasn't Irish either. English I believe. Anyhow, here's my posting for my bit for our Patron Saint - And I know there's a fiddle in there so please no heckles on that front. Makes me think if he'd take a request for The Devil Went Down To Georgia?
  9. Sounds like you had a most excellent day. I like to think that it's not always about how many you bag but how much you enjoy the experience. No doubt a sunny day amplifies the feel good factor, well it does in my book. Good shooting anyway. Most envious
  10. Thanks for responses. Has given me another option to look at (Isuzu). And MGman, thank you for your subsequent post and apology. If the office is getting to you that much, it sounds like you need to get out & play more but I guess that's easier said than done.
  11. No! No wind up, but pardon me to hell for asking advice. Maybe I should have given it a bit more thought but the latter part of your post would have sufficed along with a splash of manners or cordiality maybe. I could recommend a distance learning course for you if you're interested?
  12. I've been thinking about getting a 4x4 for a wee while now and was interested to know what you guys could offer me in the way of insider knowledge. Personally, I'd be content with a beaten up old green Landie but the other half said she wouldn't be seen in it (maybe not such a bad thing). After some more thought I was thinking about a SWB Defender although the other half has been banging on about a shiny black Range Rover. Ok, I know I'm in the heating & plumbing game but even I couldn't stretch to that. Plus she wouldn't want to get it muddy (Yes, I know so please don't even go there). The thing I like about the Defender is that it looks like it does what it says on the tin plus I would be too bothered if it got the odd ding here & there. I did point out to the other half that the old Landie would start every time (maybe that's being a tad optomistic) and would pull hers out of the ditch that she would most likely fall into with her shiny black jobbie. Anyway, I'd like to know if there are any inherant problems with said Defenders and what age/mileage would be the cut off point. Or if you could suggest something more befitting. SWB is an absolute must as I've driven a LWB Frontera off road before and the really do have a big, long *** on them (makes it a tad tight for getting round tight corners with trees in the way). Anyway, thanks in advance.
  13. Thank you. I was aware when I bought then gun that what you trade off in weight you gain in recoil but I didn't realise it was quite to that degree. After shooting the five stands and having a go on the pool my shoulder felt it'd just about had enough. Then my good friend offered me a go on the pool with his Zoli and I was very surprise how much difference a more solid gun makes. Has me thinking that maybe I should have gone for the Browning XS afterall . Still, I will give it another couple of goes before I decide if we're going to get along.
  14. Just thought I'd drop a line about the shoot I went on at the weekend where I managed to christen my new gun. A charity shoot run by the Keston Gun Club at Staffhurst Wood, 50 bird english sporting. Shot 40 which I was pretty chuffed with, seeing as the high gun got 47. Have to say, my Beretta Ultralight had got one hell of kick and had to resort to extra padding in the shoulder. Have a nice yellow bruise there now which makes me look like I'm suffering from jaundice. Still, a most excellent day.
  15. I don't think it's that people think shooting big animals or game is wrong. Far from it. Like any respectable & knowledgeable huntsman/shooter knows, there has to be an element of control going on otherwise we'd be right back in 1,000,000 years BC where we are taking our chances with all the other creatures that walk, run, crawl or fly. My point is the way in which it is done is wrong. And by that I mean taking along someone who's only interest is bagging a trophy to prove their macho credentials. They have no knowledge of the terrain, the animal or it's traits to which make it a potential threat to them. This kind of control should not be open to all and sundry who have the means to buy their "right of passage". I don't agree with trophy hunting for the sake of it, the guy got his just desserts for being ignorant & a macho ********. I'm not going to bow down to anyone who may want to defend this guys corner because their view is different to mine. As it happens, my views on shooting are it fine if you intend to eat the beast or sell it for food to others or if there is a real threat to people, property or livestock. But give the animal the utmost respect and dispatch it as quickly as humanely possible.
  16. I totally agree with the majority on here but Bleeh's comment striked a chord with me the most. The world is full of macho types (mainly of the sphincter genre) who are out to prove their manhood in some way shape or form and then cry for the mothers when they get their butts kicked. I also think the guide is wrong for taking someone of this level of inexperience along. Just because his wallet is fatter then his member shouldn't allow him to shoot "game?". Anyway I thought that, assuming they were properly licensed, they only shot species (predatory or otherwise) that were causing "a nuisance". Seems to me that it's a license for them to make money out of those that obviously have more money than sense. Nature is as Nature does and I like to think that most of us on here understand, accept and respect that. If you don't, then you should look to place your posts elsewhere. I just hate all those "Oh look at me, aren't I the big one" comments tagged on the ends of these videos. It's people who take that approach that's wrong with the world (to name a few). Now somebody please hand me a ladder, I'd like to get off my high horse now. Thank you.
  17. Not as yet but it's still early days. Thought I'd be enterprising and use my loaf and thought maybe folk would jump at the chance as apparantly it can be a bit of nightmare to get hold of a decent plumber/heating engineer. Funny though, I've never had that problem
  18. I totally agree whole heartedly. And If I had actually read all the other posts I would have realised that this was pretty much what most are saying in some way, shape of form. Wasn't that I could be ***** to read them all, just didn't have enough time this morning. Anyhow, I think means testing would be the proper way to find out if those who are casting votes or being asked their opinions actually have any idea of what they are being asked.
  19. I think I can add something to this thread. It would seem we're overlooking the obvious. The poll was done by travelodge, right? Well, I'd reckon that most of those using Travelodge are goining to be Townies anyway. The kind who do think that meat comes in ready wrapped packages and wasn't actually a living creature once. The kind of people who have a monotonous office job (probably in sales) and guage everything by how fat their monthly pay cheque is and whether their car is bigger, better, more expensive than their neighbours. The kind of person who would never shop anywhere other than a supermarket. But as one previous post on here clearly and rightfully stated - The Countryside IS a dangerous place so be afraid, be very afraid! You may just end up stepping in a fresh cowpat or getting a thorn in your little pinky (not that one, the other one).
  20. Absolute classic! Now that I can see the screen through my tears of laughter, the best bit was when he said ".. mah dawg!" and then the dog yelped. You just couldn't script it.
  21. Wasn't sure whether to post here or in the recipes section but decided here following pin's video on crowning the wood pigeon (very good). This too is a very good instructional film. I thought the guy was doing a pretty good job until his comment when he'd finished. Maybe a section on instructional films of this ilk would be a handy section to have instead of being plastered all over the place? This video is courtesy of Shooting Cookery Writer, Mark Hinge.
  22. To Whom it may concern, If you are a farmer or land owner in or around the above area I would like to propose a barter. I am a professional Plumber & Heating engineer with 23 years experience and am registered with the Gas Safe Register Scheme (Corgi replacement as from 01-04-09 for Natural Gas & LPG for domestic and non domestic), Corgi, Oftec (Oil firing technical council) and am an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineers. I would be quite happy to thrash out a deal for my services to work on your land in return for permission to shoot (shotgun & air rifle) on your land. Restrictions & endorsements on what could & couldn't be shot would be at your complete discretion and respect will be given totally to your & neighbouring boundaries. If this sounds like something you would like to discuss further then please feel free to PM me. Regards, THG.
  23. This thread is up there with one containing "and then I said, do you know who I am?" Touche! That's the thing I was looking to say
  24. I'd be interested to know if you're still taking on names for your waiting list. Thanking you in advance.
