  1. Running tangent to Scullys thread ,i have noticed that in the for sale section lead cartridges are nearly always snapped up very quickly as long as not offered at silly money whilst non toxic even at bargain prices nearly always remain unsold . My own conclusion has been that non toxic is not being widely used.
  2. Sorry to see you broke your arm Al ,hope by now its well on the mend ,interesting video anything that keeps you shooting has to be positive .
  3. I have asked him the same question but he will not give a straight answer just tells you to read the whole thread , same as he accuses Conor of really ,simple question but he refuses to answer 🤣
  4. Tss cannot really be considered a viable alternative to lead ,its too expensive and guns need more protection from its hardness than any other alternative ,some home loaders use 2 plastic wads and a neoprene over shot card ,which as we all should know by now is very bad for the environment , steel and Bismuth both work well in the 410 .Also tss patterns very very tightly some times making it unusable for any thing but long range shooting.
  5. Just playing Devils advocate, but this could also be caused by the modern trend of high bird shoots were every one would have to either not shoot at the highest birds or be a brilliant shot to not wound or maim them ,on a wardened wildfowling marsh people would be kicked off for unethical shooting for taking these on (or as you have decided blame it on steel).
  6. when i load steel i keep shot size the same as lead or smaller but increase the speed to compensate ,basic problem is poor gun handling nothing to do with steel or lead .
  7. Sadly quite a few rfd s wouldn't have a clue what a scored barrel looks like but if they say say so it must be true 👍
  8. Made 44 years ago , but so many doubters still in this country .
  9. An excellent post that exactly mirrors my own views especially with your English guns i can see exactly were your coming from ,i started using Bismuth and steel years ago with all of mine although to be fair everything i used in the early days was home loaded. I gave up with Bismuth years ago because of the cost although it worked well enough for me. I moved to shop bought steel almost exclusively last season as there are so many efficient alternatives available even with bio degradable wads which we all ought to be using anyway. Its well worth having a search through the Just cartridges site to see how much is available ,still limited with small bores i'm afraid if you don't load your own but getting better all the time. I know you have your doubts about steel as did many but from my own experience and many others it works humanely and it hasn't harmed any of my guns ,the English ones couldn't have been made any better anyway ,if the bargain basement Turks live through the massive recoil and huge pellets lurching up the tube 🤣your quality English stuff in good condition will be fine .
  10. Decoying birds into range ???? what on earth are you talking about ? thats a very small part of wildfowling .
  11. Agreed ,they will be blaming Basc for this forum being down for a while as well 😀.
  12. I suppose with Bismuth it can be used safely in any gun including Damascus also no need for plastic wads.
  13. It does fragment a little ,the early stuff was a lot worse (i think they added more Tin later) , i have never doubted the efficiency of the standard Bismuth or wondered how it could kill better ,but to be fair less fragmentation could be an improvement.
  14. £10 a kilo more than normal stuff though .It would be useful if they had a picture to see how uniform it is .I have just found a picture online of copper coated bismuth and it was still very mis shaped .
  15. some Tps wads occasionally come up on auction sites .
  16. Presumably chamber not barrel ?
  17. Can anyone tell me what this no 1 mark stands for on an Aya 12 ga supposedly a number 3 .
  18. Very thought provoking article ,plenty of work to do there by the looks of it .
  19. You clearly have a problem with the facts on disposal of the bags ,as pointed out by several on this forum as well as myself ,i have stated i have seen dumped Pheasants you continue to insinuate i am a liar ,to be honest i am a little offended by this . I will end my involvement on this thread after this post as to be honest i am fairly difficult to offend but you have succeeded in doing so ,so well done you .
  20. Explain” odd take on things” ? …..i stated what i shoot i eat ,simple isn't it ? there is no problem ,i would not choose to eat someone else's rotting Pheasants would you ? I did not say i had seen birds dumped , i said i had myself found dumped Pheasants yes myself not second hand story . You have never once seen birds dumped ………and ?
  21. I have no wish to solve there problem for them ,what i shoot i eat thats the only shooting i am comfortable with ,barring pest control .
