  1. There are two other hour long documentaries, one at least is on you tube. Slightly different emphasis on different events and the chronology runs slightly at varience with the film. In particular regarding when he actually got the diagnosis. Both very good. The Elton John one coming soon will be interesting for me as it may contain a lot of his early stuff from around here.
  2. You are a filthy racist zenophobe who is too thick to realise that we need more people because......er……...because …….er……… Oh yes! I remember now! because they are all going to vote labour. That was it! I knew there was a reason
  3. I know its not politically correct to say it but I don't really care a Flying about climate change because I don't really believe it. Since Climategate, to me it has been discredited. World population growth - yes. massively on board Destruction of rain forest -yes massively on board plastics - yes massively on board Climate change ? yawn, same old advocates trying to sell me an electric car and pay more money for things I can buy now for less Lesson, the most plausible answer is usually correct, it all about ££££ not the environment
  4. A phone booster charger is a definite as you say, two would be better they are not expensive Kendall mint cake is absolutely horrible, Maryland Cookies are cheaper and better and if you don't use them you can eat them on journey home. Proper waterproofs are a given in Scotland where ever you go When I lived in New York State I learned that an old newspaper was as good as a blanket, people always kept a pile in the back of their car as a matter of course
  5. Ah but they are all on holiday from School/ Uni at the moment so it has to be this week.
  6. Everything is made in China these days, even things you don't realise
  7. When I sit in my little place in Abercynon (that's South Wales to you lot) I am sitting on top of millions of tons of coal. That's because for millions of years it was covered in thick tropical rain forest. Abercynon is in one of the Welsh valleys, a series of huge glacial valleys each nearly 50 miles long running north south cut into the rock by a moving wall of ice over 100ft high over thousands of years. So there you have it, tropical rain forest and glacial ice sheets in the distant past. Now there is me. Just over a hundred years ago barefoot kids were working down the mines in this place, the rivers ran black, the air was sulphurous. Aberfan is only a few miles away, you can see the graves of the kids that died on the hillside as you drive up the valley. Down the valley is Sengenyd scene of not one but two of the worst mining disasters ever. I don't think we need to believe these protestors when they start saying that we are all going to be dead in 30 years Plastic, that's different, that really could be a game changer but all this climate change cobblers is pure fantasy. It was discredited by Climategate
  8. Its always the same though with these sort of protests, demands without solutions. Anyone can be a protestor, Jeremy Corbyn has made a career of it. Others like the feeling of power they get from causing disruption. But don't go telling us what we are doing wrong until you can do better. Daddy will pay
  9. That's Spooky...…...Now you are starting to sound very much like one of them.
  10. That's utopian rubbish, my stepdaughter is doing a hundred miles a day commute at the moment and there are no buses in Cornwall, well one every two hours and the last bus goes about 8.30 pm
  11. Fuel tax just hits the poorest who have to get to work, Many people don't have any choice but to absorb the cost because their commute, school runs or whatever is not discretionary. My stepdaughter has a hundred mile a day round trip commute at the moment. On the other hand, I'm not gong to stop driving my V8 car no matter what petrol costs, its not an issue to me.
  12. That doesn't really add up because on that basis somebody has to pre judge the worthiness of the case. Where asylum is concerned the applicant cannot be denied legal aid. That's why these immigration lawyers are always circling like vultures putting in appeal after appeal on even the flimsiest of grounds. Win, lose or draw the lawyer puts in his bill regardless I think jumped under a terrorist would be more accurate
  13. That would be a vast improvement on the shoddy timber frame houses they are building all over Cornwall at the moment.
  14. Very little of the stuff we put in our recycling bins ever really gets recycled. It an elaborate charade to create the illusion that they are doing something positive when really there is very little opportunity to commercially recycle any of it.
  15. Yes and South Wales was the same, even the rivers ran black, but its not like that now, and neither is the black country. Humans produce 50 times more CO2 than all the vehicles in the world just by breathing. To reduce CO2 and all the other problems we need to reduce the human population which has quadrupled in my lifetime. Any suggestions on how we go about that would be very interesting because that is the issue no politician would even dare to mention. I did notice one of these little rich kid spokespersons turned the subject round to Veganism very quickly. Well my, my,, that's a surprise
  16. At least now they can knock it down and build something more modern if they choose to
  17. Certainly its very easy to set up a charity
  18. The big problem with foreign aid has been at this end with Civil Servants not investigating the good causes they give to and then not following up afterwards to check on how the money was spent.
  19. Allegedly, according to CNN the French have already collected equivalent of $700 million in voluntary donations. If that's true its a heck of a lot of money in less than 24 hours,
  20. You cant beat a Ghillie Kettle!
  21. Don't worry he will get a grant from the EU, he's been doing them some favours lately over Brexit so it only right
  22. It should be inconceivable in this day that any fhistoric building could be destroyed by fire. For my sins I was for several years a (company appointed) Trustee of St Albans Cathederal. The endless risk assessments and incident forecasting was all consuming and to comply with all the draconian regulations was like having to jump through endless hoops laid out end on end. Basically, you couldn't even f -a-r-t let alone burn the place down.
  23. Bottle of whiskey? actually you only need an AA card, IF there is a phone signal. Otherwise food, water and old newspapers (for bedding down) When I lived in Upstate New York, parts of which were way more remote than the Scottish Highlands, people carried complete life support systems in their cars in the winter for good reason. Get cut off in the wrong place and you died, simple as that. Every year people really did die in snow drifts and by skidding off roads. The bottle of whiskey was your last goodbye.
  24. The Dutch dispute a legal marriage ever took place, clearly they are not as stupid as we are. They have the right attitude
  25. Its a drop in the ocean compared to the legal aid given to dubious asylum claimants. Its just that they don't make the front pages .Legal aid is very contentious.
