  1. Hi, Sorry to here about your friend. I don't know about Brownings, but someone certainly will. The AYAs are straight forward and good guns. Anyone interested will know exactly what they are. All you could possibly add is the choke sizes ( usually 1/4 by 1/2 ). Go to Page 2, guns and equipment, and scroll down to Flashman.
  2. Hi, Have a look to see if there's any clover and if so it may be worth a go. Possibly with crows, but they may be feeding on leather jackets.
  3. Hi, Don, As concisely as possble: 1st, shot gun: you missed. 2nd, rifle: the stresses on two different barrels are not the same, you cannot compare them by seeing what the bullet does. The only way is with a chronograph.
  4. Hi Chrispti, 1st question. Yes possibly, particularly the Bisley version, but Pin gave the best answer. 2nd question. Yes, practice improves anything. However, why make life difficult. We aren't target shooting and our 'target' is going to move sooner (usually damnit) or later. Without rushing, the sooner we can identify the required 'sight picture' without all the up a bit no left a bit no down a bit (chasing the error) you can get with an excessive mag and squeeze the trigger, the better the result will be. However, the level of mag is a personal setting and (and will alter with species and range) what suits the individual is best consistant with the minimum he/she feels comfortable with.
  5. Hi, Some good answers and Markbivvy hit the spot. You say you missed with 20 mag but at similar range you hit with 8. Its always better to shoot with the minimum necessary. Not withstanding all the valid points raised about parallex, etc, the higher the mag, as Mark says, the more wobble and you end up what is called "chasing the error" and miss.
  6. Hi, current Sporting Gun has one, April through to November.
  7. Hi, Jaycey, Sounds like an offer you can't refuse. By the way, Clayman, thanks. You're dead right, it was down to me, I misread, thought you were giving bore sizes!
  8. Hi, If all else fails, visit a reputable coach. Money well spent but as the game fairs season is starting up, you could get good qualified advice for very little.
  9. Hi, I've had 2; one boxlock and one sidelock. Now I'm lucky enough to own the original version by EJ Churchill, an easy opening Regal. Get one but be careful. They are very fast, particularly the boxlock - you could end up missing in front. If the Beretta "is fine", why change though, better the devil you know.
  10. Hi, Have to agree with Baldrick. In the rush to .17hmr, everyone, it seems, forgot about the .22wmr. Provided they suit your rifle, the 40gr WRS for short (100yds plus) range fox and 150yds with the Remington 33gr for rabbit takes some beating.
  11. Thanks, mate. Got me a pigeon and it works a treat without any further messing about.
  12. Inspite of the difficult job of removing the fouling these leave, Eley Realtree Pigeon 30gr 6 1/2 shot.
  13. Hi, Blackthorn, I'm using the Pigeon-Decoy's version. Utilising the hollow ground peg at the bottom and the angled rod which fits into the flapper mechanism at the top of the arm, I've got a firm but springy bounce for a 4ft height using 1 1/4 lbs of spagetti (needs must and the wife is away!). My problem now is that I don't think that I can use your idea of the plate - apart from the flapper arms, the body support passes through the body so you cant add owt to it. Any ideas? As the bounce is not harsh, I may get away with it as things are. Will try to bag a pigeon and try it tomorrow. Cheers, mate.
  14. Voted fixed. Change cartridge if I need to change the choke. There again, I prefer 2 triggers so what do I know! Went to GMK website they are available 1/4 by 1/2.
  15. Hi, again, Must have been typing as you posted your last! Thanks for the tip.
  16. Hi, Well blow me! I started the same thing yesterday. I'm using the arms off my home made rotary. They're 1/4" spring steel and I hopeful that I don't have the same problem as Steve B mentioned. Ok without the pigeon but the extra pound or so might just make a difference. We won't have any pigeon shooting for a while but am hoping to try it on the maize with the rooks. The one problem I do see is keeping the pigeon in place. Cheers
  17. HI, all, Think I'm right in saying that a bullet/shrapnel strike of 60ft lbs is deemed sufficient to incapacitate a soldier.
  18. Hi, Royal, Outskirts of town. Also shot 100s of rabbit at St. Point!!! Cheers
  19. Hi, Arr m' dear. Exmouth. Vermin and pheasant. Know Newnham from way back, was a BASC coach in a former life.
  20. Peter, Many thanks again. Thats me sorted.
  21. Peter, Thanks, mate. Been to the website on your second post whch shows I have to ask one last question. Is it permissable to use more choke than the standard full choke rating and if so what would that be? As I dont shoot clays, the answer in normal percentage terms would be ideal - my knowledge bottoms out at full, ie70%. Thanks again.
  22. Hi,All, Need some help guys, please. I do not shoot clays and need a couple of questions answered: What is the maximum load for competative DTL and Olympic Trap (are these different disciplines?) shooting? What shot sizes are used? What would be the normal/average ish range for a first and second barrel shot? Well, OK it was three! Thanks in advance
  23. You're fine ,mate. 67.5 is deemed accptable for 2.5" with regard to the 2mm bit, no, as always the 67.5 refers to the overall cartridge length when oper, ie fired.
  24. Hi, All my scopes have IR. Having said that, I've never used it!! But, one day, who knows? With regard to the mildot, if you (or your friend) is paying real money for a proper military standard version, all well and good. I am not familiar with the scope you specified but if it is not to that standard (ie the dots do not move when the magnification is altered) you'll find that you're better off without. I had three, but sold one and on the remaining two I just use the centre hairs and aim off. I'm firmly convinced that it's just a gimmick.
