  1. I've discovered that it is a Breda 710 Magnum. It has an external thread at the muzzle end to which a choke tube screws on. I'd still like to know how to strip it if anyone could help. I really have no idea.
  2. Thanks for the replies. I took the gun out for a test and all seems fine. I just need to work out how to strip it for cleaning now!
  3. I picked up a rather ropey Breda semi auto today for £30. Anyone know anything about these shotguns? Are they any good?
  4. Thanks to everyone who has contacted me about this topic. I have a short list of names waiting for a vacancy to arise. I am happy to continue taking names for the list from "really keen" pigeon shooters who are able to turn out regularly to protect crops. To save time answering individual PMs, I would mention that we only shoot woodpigeon, nothing else, and we only use shotgun, nothing else.
  5. Membership is currently £50 per year plus a one off £10 joining fee. This includes membership of the Countryside Alliance and the full benefit of the the insurance that it provides. It doesn't come any better than this, but, please note that this is not a club that you can just "pay and join". No amount of money can get you in. Membership is subject to a probationary period and approval of the Committee. This is a seriously rare opportunity and I would request only serious enquiries please.
  6. Club farms range, roughly, from about 10 miles north of Driffield, northwards to Pickering and from the Yorkshire coast to 10 miles west of Malton.
  7. Anyone interested in joining a well established, non profit making Pigeon Shooting Club with 1000s of acres in North and East Yorkshire? I anticipate a few vacancies shortly and welcome enquiries from "really keen" pigeon shooters who are prepared to turn out and shoot regularly. This is not a business advert and it is not a wind-up.

I managed to get £10 worth of envelopes sent off over the festive season. That's my contribution. Yes, 1000 at 1 pence each. I wonder have much Freepost charge that gets them? :( :( I think it's great fun!
  9. You will find visible traces of lead on a plaswad too.
  10. My mate bought a Remi 1100 which was previously held on a shotgun certificate. He found that he could load more than 2 into the magazine and had to have it restricted and sent it away to the proof house for re-proof.
  11. :( How BIG are the wads supposed to expand to? How many would it have to eat to even get indigestion? Have sheep stopped chewing what they eat these days?
  12. Frozen woodpigeon = 7pence each collected. :( Mind you, we'll probably get nowt after 1st Jan 2006.
  13. Latest best price £88 per thou for 28 gram fibre £94 per thou for 30 gram fibre.
  14. I haven't seen the information in question, but I don't need to. If there is even the slightest shadow of doubt that information on any forum, website or anywhere else, shows my sport in a bad light, then get rid of it. This website/forum belongs to Teal and an excellent job he does too. End of story.
  15. Best price so far - £105 per thousand delivered including vat, for 12b, fibre wad, 30gram. Go on somebody, make my day, tell me where to get them cheaper.
  16. Yep, great, anymore? And by the way, what does everyone consider a good price per thousand? I'm thinking around the £100 per thou mark inc vat. Is that realistic? Too high/low?
  17. Thanks Baldrick. I'll have a look. Anyone else got any ideas?
  18. Anyone, know of anywhere that sells cheap shotgun cartridges? I need any amount between 5,000 to 10,000, are there any places that do sell shotgun cartridges by mail order? They should be No6 shot, fibre wad, loaded with 30 or 32 grm.
  19. I run a Discovery and a Daihatsu 4x4. I find the Disco is by far the best, not the least because it is actually 4 wheel drive, all the time, on all surfaces. I can't be doing with switching into 4 then switching back to 2 wheel drive every time you touch a hard surface, back into 4 for mud/snow/ice. Reverse to unlock the hubs or get out and do it manually. No, been there, done that. I think Nissan have just introduced a Pathfinder which is permanent 4x4. I might give that a look over.
  20. I was in Toys R Us yesterday, (don't ask) and I noticed that they sell a pair of either Binatone or Motorola radios with dual charger for £24.95. the model was 250 or something. I nearly bought some..... I did, nearly....
  21. I shot the pea field today that I mentioned in this thread about a month ago. Very warm and so windy that I had to turn my swooper around as it kept doing back flips and my hide kept blowing in on me. A really good late afternoon session though. The birds presented themselves in absolute text-book fashion. Final count for 2 hours shooting was 35.
  22. I had my best day ever on newly cut grass. The hay bales were the small square type and made an easy hide. It was about 3 or 4 years ago in Oxfordshire. I think I shot 125 or so that day.
  23. Longnetter, for a "non dangerous except to mink" trap for the caravan site, try sinking a 2ft long 6" round drain pipe vertically into the ground, thus creating a deep narrow shaft. Drop a fish head or two in the bottom and see what you find when you check back later.
  24. Yes, FM, as I left a pea field only 2 fields away from the Borage the other evening, the Borage was blue over with pigeons. It seemed as if they had shunned several nearby pea fields (all at different stages of growth) to feed on the Borage, which had been drilled 2 weeks earlier. There is no visible growth of borage plants on the field yet. I've never shot over this type of crop, but I got an email last night from my pal who shot the field in question yesterday and managed to decoy some woodpigeon over it, so.........?
