  1. I had a trip with them at the end of April but struggling to get any update/timescale on the taxidermy that was supposed to be coming back. I don't mind if it's not done would just like to hear from them. Anyone else had any troubles or used them before? Gibby
  2. http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-3833245/Banks-snatching-PPI-payouts-ve-paid-25bn-years-mis-selling-say-mistakes.html This made me laugh, bet there's some squeaky bums out there at the moment. Gibby
  3. Does anyone use one? Looking at upgrading my kit and there seem to be some good discounts on them at the moment. Any other rods to look at? #5 or #6 is what I'm looking for. Gibby
  4. Brilliant, lets advise someone to commit mortgage fraud because they can't get what they want. The very reason why mortgage lending has tightened up. As Lloyd has said, lenders aren't that stupid and have criteria in place to stop this sort of stuff. Gibby
  5. I understand why people don't get banks' decisions about not being able to afford a payment when their rent costs less, but as people have said its about taking in to account rate increases and more expenses you have to pay for owning a house over renting. You will have lenders who will let you borrow more than others and it's all about their risk based approach to lending. HSBC have the option to cherry pick who they lend to as they have very healthy rates and access to cheap money. With this combination they have people on very good incomes with statistically a lower chance of defaulting on payments wanting to borrow from them. If you were in their shoes who would you rather lend to? Someone with £'000s of spare income each month or someone with £150 spare income each month. With £150 spare income each month how would you save up enough for a major repair without sticking it on a credit card and then having that as an outgoing. A mortgage isn't a right and you can't be annoyed with a company for not wanting to lend.
  6. Does anyone have a recommendation for a classic car sprayer in the SW? Gibby
  7. Trying to get an Aimpoint and magnifier to line up on the 30-06 but the mount height of the Aimpoint magnifier means I need to raise the red dot by half an inch. Where can I pick up a picatinny block that will attach to the picatinny rail to raise it? eBay is throwing up air soft stuff that I'm not confident of and Google is bringing up stuff from the States. Anyone ever seen escalator stewards at matches?
  9. Looking to take the Mrs to New York over Christmas, Boxing Day to New Years, but will the attractions and shops be open or shut? Anyone been this time of year that could advise? Gibby
  10. Spot price/ paper price for silver may be at 43p. But there's a premium on physical bullion and you have to pay VAT on top. I think they're well priced.
  11. What's the LOP on the gun? Gibby
  12. Putting one of the above on a driven rifle but can't seem to find the pros and cons of one over the other. Anyone got experience with either, or even better both? What would you recommend? Gibby
  13. http://www.rspb.org.uk/joinandhelp/campaignwithus/law/old_collections/ Go for it. My uncle gave me his and they look something special cased on the wall. Gibby
  14. What's the best way to clean up a forend on on old sxs without ruining the chequering? Is it possible to sand without ruining the chequering? Gibby
  15. Has anyone got/used one of the above? About set to pull the trigger on one but can't find much review wise from people who've used it in the field. Still deciding between 20 and 22 inch barrel and then wood or synthetic. Feels a quality piece. Initial set up is for driven boar with an aimpoint but may convert it to dedicated plains game so thinking long term 22 inch barrel will be best. Thoughts? Gibby
  16. Thanks guys. Certainly will look good on the wall, but need to coax the mrs first. It's a Sako 85, laminate varmint in .308. Scope is a Swarovski 5-30x50 with the ballistic turret and illuminated reticle. Would definitely recommend the IR on these scopes with their fine reticle. Gibby
  17. Back from my trip to Spain this weekend. Had 3 days of hunting planned for one beast. Lucked out on the first day with the PH putting me in the right spot. We saw a herd of Billys at 200 yards and the shot was taken. A truly hardy animal with it running a good 150-200 yards up the mountain, heart in my mouth moment as it was about to disappear over the crest of the hill before stumbling backwards and going down. Shot was placed perfectly behind the shoulder but didn't go straight through, exiting 6 inches further back on the opposite side, but still haven't had anything get away with the Sako Super Hammerheads 150gr. If anyone is looking for a good outfitter in Spain for any of the Ibex species drop me a PM, could not recommend them enough. Gibby
  18. Looking to get my father the equipment for his birthday but not sure what I need to bundle together. Will leave the ingredients etc to him. So far I'm set on getting him a press and a shredder/ pulper. What's an ideal size? Any other pieces I need to get? Gibby
  19. When setting the scope height, where are you measuring from? Barrel to middle of the objective? Base of the tube? Gibby
